Red Steel wasn't that bad in my opinion, me & my brother played the heck out of it when i gotten my first Nintendo Wii (before i had to buy another one) yeah i was admittely a bit disappointed when Ubisoft took away the part whereas the main character was outside this hotel looking ballroom area while trying to reach inside you was able to cover behind car doors (Same exact feature tookin out from True Crime: New York City) but i was going a bit off-topic there sorry about that, as for Watch Dogs i've watched someones comparison video between E3 Footage & PC Version's settings Maxed out to the fullest! and yet the actually retail game does indeed looks like complete crap and HIGHLY disappointing! so yes, i def do agree with you man.
The graphics aren't as good looking as the E3 video, but overall it's a fun game and the invasion multiplayer is nice. It certainly beats the hell out of the new inFamous in the amount of content as well as gameplay variety, and the mission design isn't as godawful as ACIV, plus all the collectables actually give you something unlike ACIV.
The old E3 video may look like a masterpiece, but as a hard-core gamer of many years & a developer of some, I realize that that video was smoke & mirrors. But it might not have been smoke & mirrors at all... This is where the true contention is made. Those e3 videos might have just shown us a glimpse of reality, one that could be ascertained on real hardware, maybe with an incomplete build. As a developer, sacrifices must be made, but where, & at what cost. You really have to weigh the options. But back to the old e3 video. It could have been a slow compilation of things that "worked", as I have no doubt that the things people look at as bs was in the game before this video, it just didn't make it obvious. It would be like a dev making a promotional video for his game, & since he was the only beta tester, he put all the exploits in his trailer since he knew about them. It would make the game look like shit. Ergo, I declare the beta version we saw, just as shitty, if not more shitty than the final build, which I have never played. Thank you! /drunken rant
I am holding out for the Wii U version, it was suppose to be the more "immersive version" of the game using the gamepad screen.
This. Deus Ex Human Revolution already showed me how awesome the second screen can be for stuff like this.
A lot of the criticism seems to be focused on how the game looks, which is lame. In general I can't stand the current graphics whore mentality among gamers: gameplay is apparently secondary to how many pees a game has nowadays.
I might as well take this as an opportunity to ask: is the disappointment solely based on the graphics? If yes, is the gameplay, sound(!) and the rest of the package okay? (This was the only reason Id go and buy a PS4 right now, but if its crap Ill wait till KH4 or something else thats interesting...)
I don't see how people could have problems with the graphics, they look stunning and are a step up from last gen for sure. So far i'm only 30 minutes in but the games story is a cookie cutter revenge for family death sort of thing. Hopefully (as it seems in the trailer) it will veer off from that a bit and get more into the underground hacker culture within the game. All in all I'm liking it.
From what i've read, most complaints are because performance issues, even with top CPU and GPU configurations. Even lowering settings, making the game uglier, people still have problems. Also read the driving system is a mess.
Most of the companies by now don't even care anymore about performance, because they normally rush the games into the market quickly, and Ubisoft is one of them. I was expecting my Intel Core i5, 6GB RAM, 500GB HD to run, but sadly, I only have an internal video card (Intel HD Graphics 3000)
The graphics isn't a big deal really, though the optimization is half assed, the real issue for me is the game itself which is a combination of bad quality GTA imitation, shit characters (and I do say shit sir!) and not really a lot of "hacking" but really "upgrade X, then press X to win" Still playing it, I might write a review when I'm done
I got used to the driving. The licensed songs they used were god awful and the kill all the mooks missions were annoying. The one thing I will say was terrible is that Aiden doesn't seem to want to let go of walls easily. It's gotten me killed more times than I would like. Other minor nitpicks are subtitles not staying in sync with the audio and frame rate drops. I like the game and thought it was good, but doesn't live up entirely to the hype. Most games don't anyways.
I don't get any framerate issues, granted I did update my rig recently but I do have bugs like the audio which tends to freeze the game for a moment while it loads one of those godawful songs I wish I could disable the music altogether
When they had the main character have shooting missions, you know it stinks of desperation, when the main point of the game is go all Hardison on Chicago.
Oh, I forgot to mention that the title is completely misleading. There isn't even a single dog on the game, and it's true, reviews of the game can tell you the truth.
Red Steel was an amazing game and motion shooting worked pretty well to be the first of its kind on the system. The katana mini-games pretty much suck but they were a few. Ubisoft and vaporware = Killing Day.
