It's getting bad reviews but it's gotta be the 360's best kept secret. I haven't had this much fun with a hybird game like.....ever
My copy should be here in the next day or two. I've been following this one since the arcade version first started getting coverage in Arcadia magazine...
I am I am! Haven't spent as much time with it as I have Odin Sphere though, as both came out on the same day. But it's fun and cool and just a little kooky. Makes me wish I had a nice arcade stick for the 360. Also, as a shmup fan, I just think it's great that it came out in the US. Anybody have the Japanese version? I would love a good scan of the package insert, cuz I don't care for the US "Wartech" logo or cover art...
Guess what I made one only the front cover though. But is this game really a Shmup? I think it's like a Shmup/Fighter Hybird. It's gotta be one of the best worst 360 games out now next to Sonic Next Gen.
It's an aquired taste but chances are if you post on this forum You'll love it. I think it's getting poor reviews becuase reviwers are for the most part mainstream fed idiots.
Nothing new. I saw how reviews of Sonic Next Gen swayed the general public to think it was a horrible game, But play it after Glitchfest Sonic Adventure DX and it's awesome. Gamepro is known for loving everything but said Bullet Witch was the worst game ever made, when actually it was pretty decent. Raiden III isn't being reviewed well because "it's not a downloadable game" So yeah, mainstream Reviewers are complete and utter Morons.
I liked Bullet Witch, even though it got icky reviews. Sonic, I dunno, I use to be a big Sonic fan and that game was just.......bleh. To me it felt unplayable, like you had to fight with the game to play it, but it could have been really good. I'll have to try this out if my 360 ever gets repaired.
Yes, on PC, and I completed the original Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast (which DX is a glorified port of, in case you weren't aware), which was similarly glitchy. In any case, DX being shitty has no bearing on Sonic 360 - I'm not about to accept a game as fundamentally flawed as Sonic 360 just because one of its predecessors managed to be worse. There's also the issue that Sonic Adventure is now getting toward being a decade old, and as such I'm prepared to cut it a small amount of slack; I still think it's a shit game, but by comparison to games of its time it was average. By this stage though, 3D Sonic games should be seeing considerable improvements. At the very least they shouldn't be a chore to play.
The worst 3d Sonic was Sonic Heroes.......and that Team is doing NIGHTS.......Yeah.......wake me up when a REAL NIGHTS game is made, or you got me a Saturn..
I thought Sonic Adventure was alright, especially the highway stage, but it's old. DX was kind of dumb because there was almost nothing added. The new Sonic is just unplayable to me, and I hate the dumbass story stuff. Sonic Heroes had a fun level or two from what I remember, but was still ass.
Well...yeah, if you want to quibble over semantics. It leans more heavily in the 'bullet hell' shmup direction because you do a lot more shooting than you do fighting; and it's by G.Rev, known for games like Border Down, so personally I'd still file it under 'shmup.' Actually, my favorite way to describe it is to compare it to the old game Spacewar -- it's almost like a 'Spacewar 2007,' being a one-on-one shooter, except they took out the sun and added some punching. Also, I liked Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. I overlooked the un-polished-ness of the later levels and I thought the game itself was pretty fun. SA2 was disappointing though, and Sonic Heroes just made me mad. Since then I've pretty much given up on Sonic Team. I played just the demo of Sonic 360 and it was pretty bad. I think we're all waiting for a triumphant return to form for Sonic...
