Since the USB Super Famicom Pad I got for my birthday doesn't like to work when my Laptop is hooked up to a TV I decided to get a REAL Super Famicom controller and use it with Retro USB's SNES adapter. After looking and looking and looking for a place that sold Super Famicom Controllers I finally found Game Doctor Hong Kong a place that sells retro game stuff based in Hong Kong. Has anyone used them? are they reliable or should I keep looking?
The shop is trustworthy, but the prices and condition are never great. I'm not saying this as a one time unhappy customer but someone who has bought from him numerous times long before the shop and even his first website. Even "90% new" items are consistently disappointing. Since the item you're looking for is common and Japanese I'd sooner order from Japan or even a western import shop and reserve GDHK for Chinese novelties.
Google searches aren't bringing much up if anyone wants to suggest some good places the places I found are either Too expensive or questionable.
Hmm,have you thought about getting a pal snes controller, the cord is so much longer than the super famicom one.
As long as I get it from somewhere that'll ship to the US. Just finding a store that has a simple Super Famicom pad is getting quite difficult It's like some dude has all the Super Famicom Controllers in his mother's basement or something. Since the PAL SNES pad has the colored buttons that's fine. That's the only real reason I'm looking for a Super Famicom Pad. I have an SNES Controller right now I can use but the start button need to really be pressed Hard.
I guess your use of the word trustworthy is kind of loose. If you get items that looked like it came out of someones ass, it's not exactly honest to say its "90% new". But if you have no alternative, then I guess it's better than nothing. But as you said, at least they do ship you something. haha.
I buy a lot of stuff from this guy, and I've never had a problem. All systems he's sent me are great condition and as described. Prices are actually pretty good, compared to eBay.. Also he does have rare stuff there and good shipping prices.
