I've yet to ever come across a copy of any of these things. I just can't believe it's really this scarce, since I read that it was supposedly distributed a lot before the official release. I'm just curious if anyone owns or has actually even SEEN any of these things ever in their entire lives, outside of pics on the net.

If I recall the pictures of the two carts are just chinese pirated carts with the first dumped Sonic 2 Beta ROM. I didn't think they had final (or close to final) code on them. Never have seen one own one though so I can't say for certain.

Well, the title screen shots on the front would seem to indicate it must be the "beta" rom that was found back in 1999. I was hoping people would assume that :) That's been the toughest part of finding this thing so far, I've gotten leads and then when I ask the seller they're completely oblivious to that fact that the title screen is not the one in the final game. Makes it tough to feel like shelling out the money when you might be paying for just the final game. And this is Sonic 2, you'd think anyone would notice. Not exactly the most uncommon game out there.

So I've given up really trying to stress it's the "beta" game to anyone. I just want to find the ones specifically in the pic. No use depending on the seller to see if it's what I want or not, no one seems to even know Sonic 2 anymore from my experience -_-

Chinese sellers don't care really. It's because it isn't cost effective to look into details like that for a customer who will only purchase a handful of units (at most). The only time I've ever gotten games plugged up to a unit to check was when I was present in person, inspecting the actual products myself. In addition, it was for a large volume order so it also acted as a contributing factor for why they let me do so.
