Anyone ever had this sound issue with a genesis 2 and 32x?

Games are playing as normal, but some of the instruments that make up the synthesized music do not play, or are played at a greatly reduced volume, which makes the music sound off from normal.

I think its primarily the smooth square wave sounds in the music that are affected, so maybe it is an issue to do with the Z80 only?

Didn't have a chance to test the genesis without the 32x yet, but that will be my next test tomorrow, to see if its a genesis problem, or maybe an issue with the 32x connection cables or 32x connection to the genesis. Will update on that soon. Just wanted to throw this out there in the meantime in case its well known to have issues with the Z80 only in certain genesis 2s.

Update, its not related to the 32x. Just doing some testing with the genesis by itself. The Z80 produced sound is still quiet. Also encountering a new odd issue - was testing with comix zone and it had a reoccurring issue where it would soft reset the game to the white game specific presented by sega screen in the middle of gameplay. It's happened several times in different places in the game, but typically within 3 minutes of gameplay. It's also happened despite reseating the cart... It also completely froze on two occasions mid game.

Update, sound is all fixed. Using a different ac adapter and plugging sound cable into different inputs on my tv helped. Didn't bother testing which of those was the culprit, but glad to know my genesis isn't dying. Man, a lot of game music sounds weird without the Z80 parts being audible.

The freezes and resetting in comix zone seem to be game specific. Didn't have any issues playing a couple other games. Guess I'll clean it and hope for the best, maybe its like grindstormer and a connection to the rom chip inside the cart is flaking out.

AC adaptors can be VERY finnicky with Sega consoles, for some reason. My Sega CD model 1 wouldn't run on anything but a normal Sega 1692 adaptor, no matter what off-brand it was.

Your issues sound like a memory controller pointing to the wrong place in Comix Zone, the cart will be to blame if it doesn't happen in any other game. Try taking it apart and inspecting the pins, in case some guy spit all over the pins while blowing them to clean them.
