Not too bad of a price. I might pick it up. If I remember right they removed Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 from XBLA quite a while ago. Nice to see it back. I never had the chance to download it before it was removed.
I have fond memories of playing UMK3 at my college's arcade back in the day. I'll get it for that reason alone.
Yes, it's available today on PSN too. Apparently PC version was delayed till next month. I got it today on XBLA and wow these are great versions, the graphical styles too choose from (original, painted view, scanlines just like in arcades), and you can choose cabinet view with distorted image just like on an old tube monitor. Great sound quality (sometimes these ports are quite shoddy). It's the collection of first 3 MK's to have.
they're certainly nostalgic, but I'm curious if the gameplay still holds. MKII Arcade on the PSN was the first game I bought and it's a good memory bad not a great game by my standards today:/
Yeah, I got it. Mainly since UMK3 is off XBLA, and you can't get it anymore. It's not a great package actually. The online play is horrid, and some aspects of the emulation aren't quite right. One problem is, it contains a move list (which is nice), however when you pause the game, there's a noticeable 3 second delay, before you can move again. So, when you get to the end of a match and get the "FINISH HIM", you pause to check the move you want to do, unpause, and you don't have enough time to do it. It's a minor bug, but it's very annoying. The entire package just feels half-assed in a way. Like, they saw Mortal Kombat is popular again, and they just crapped it out, in an 85% finished state. Ah well.
In a word - no. I would have been interested, except for the fact I played MK at my cousin's recently and I sucked badly - I could barely get off the first few tiers of single player and got my ass handed to me in multiplayer. Gone are the days where I could act and react well, I remember being bale topwn the thing when I was 10 years old lol
The only thing that kind of sucks about this package is the online play, it *works but at what it seems half a framerate (who knows, they may patch it). If you want three classic games in the proper form on current generation systems (for offline play), it's a great offer.
I did on PSN and got 100% of the trophies. Network play is slow as hell and the AI is extremely frustrating (As it was in my memories ) However, I don't plan play again.
