I've had it for quite a while now. It's ok, I wasn't overly impressed. I hate it when a figure walks away from you and you see it change to the low poly, low texture model too quickly. Looks like shit. And the textures are very repetative.
I love it, but many people don't. Then again, I'm not finished with it (I believe I'm about half way through the game). The graphical issues are there, but they don't annoy me too much...
mine from amazon never arrived ... oh well ... I'll order it from lik sang in a month or 2 or wait for it 2nd hand :S
I like the single player game almost as much as the first game. Many people aren't satisfied with it, but I'm enjoying it so far :smt023 . Multiplayer, however, is a different story if you don't have Live. The levels are massive, and Halo 1 is probably better if you're playing with three friends.
Ok, don't believe anyone here. The game is excellent, much better than the first. Play on at least Heroic. That way, the enemies are quite intelligent, but not hair-pullingly cheap sacks of crap. Yeah, the graphics definately look a bit funky at times, but Halo 2 definately has some of the best graphics around, especially in the cinemas. It looks and feels epic. Great game. By the way, I thought the first one was way over-rated, and while I don't know if I'd give Halo 2 a ten, I definately say it's worth buying. I'm a good ways into it too. The key here is that the levels aren't as repetetive. Yes, about 2 or so out of the 5 or 6 I played were kinda redundant, but no where near the endless amount of gray rooms from the first Halo. I'm stoked to play it on LIVE! though. Sweet. :smt023
i would love to play it, but my xbox is broken (again...) :smt009 .anyway, the first one was way over rated, indeed. it's still a pretty good game , but those who said its was the best fps ever , or worst , the best game ever didn't know what they where talking about. i'm in need of fps in this moment , guess ill find what i want with halo 2, prime (ill buy it soon), prime:echoes, hl2 and killzone! :-D plus , i'm proud to say this: THE guy behind halo is a quebecquois! :smt045 :-D Semi-Off-Topic: what about the suposed ''Halo killer'', (well, there's already allot of game that beats halo, but it was his magazine name..) Killzone? anyone played it? it think ill rent it this week-end.
In terms of Halo 2: Love it. Only level so far that seems to repeat it the third one. Also, Online is great. and yeah, Killzone was the "Halo Killer". Played it, and it was shit. Too much of the same, as well as bugs (froze 2 times for me).
I thought about buying it, but Shining Tears and Zelda: Fushigi no Boushi both came out 5 days before. I just got Tears, but am holding off until I get Zelda and play through it. I might try Halo 2 then, but I don't have live. who cares though.... Half Life 2 comes out on the 16th, which looks a bit more solid if you ask me. Man, I've not bought a PC game in like 5 years.
I nearly shat myself with joy when I saw the collector's edition of Half Life 2. I'm going to need to upgrade my PC to play that puppy, but boy will it be worth it! I'm up to level 14 or something in Halo 2. Somewhat repetitive in some places, though there's some sweet environs this time. It feels really epic, though some shit looks identical to the first Halo. I'm not joking, it looks like some of the sections were pulled straight out of Halo 1. Lazy asses. :smt042 I'll forgive them though, as the story is better, the graphics are great, there's more weapons, and I actually don't want it to end. It's sweet. :smt083
I just had a 4 player Halo 2 "party" and against another team. I had my friend and I, and the enemies were His neighbors. It was a two on two battle. It was also my first time to play any Halo game with more than 3 people, too. I dotn have an Xbox, but this has sold me. Well, technically, I would get one anyway, but, you know. I thought 4 player was awesome, I want to try online multiplayer now. And I give the finger to any nimrod out there that says the Wraith is "Slow". :angry Anyhoo, I think the graphics were good, No problems with buggy things, and the cutscenes were ugly at parts, but who cares? It is mind-numbing fun! I would rather blow up someone in multiplayer than bitch about campaign mode. And look out for me, When I finally play on that Darn Intar-web my name is "Supafly" and Im a pure steel elite with a yellow frowney face emblem. :-D
I've been playing games a long time and have never been a fan of fps....this is the first fps that I can truly say I LOVE...great game and multiplayer is great!!
I got the LE boxset yesterday the game is sheer brilliance, haven't played the single player though i've been playing on x-box live for 5 hours and it's the best online fps i've ever played great game types especially the 16 people team games like assault, CTF and bomb planting are brilliant rayer:
http://ps2.ign.com/articles/561/561669p1.html?fromint=1 IGN gave it a 7.5 The review's well worth a read... for a change...
I laugh at the "ltd edition" boxset thing, you show me a non "ltd" version! *cough*"ltd"Zeldaboxset*cough*
Well i don't know how it's in the UK but here in holland you could only get the LE set by pre-ordering and all game selling stores i know off were sold out instantly. Just hope M$ doesn't make another batch.
The Limited Edition set is actually worth picking up if you're a Bungie/Halo fan, or a fan of behind-the-scenes stuff - it comes in a spiffy collector's tin with a second DVD that has a lot of concept art, making-of footage, etc. If that's not your thing, just save yourself the $5 and get the regular edition. Now the game. My roommate picked his copy up a few days ago, and we've been playing co-op for the past two nights. I think we're close enough to the end and that I've played it enough to give it a decent review. First, the good. The graphics are indeed updated, and make the game look very nice. Now I wouldn't go crapping in my pants with squeals of "Oh my God, it's the most beautiful thing ever!" but it doesn't look bad. Kindof. I'll talk more on this later. The pacing and story of the game I also found very enjoyable - for most of it, and the first level especially, the game had a very cinematic feel, as though you were in the plot of some movie. And the soundtrack absolutely rocks. I liked the first one, and I absolutely LOVE this one. Co-op is still a very fun way to play though the game, provided your comrade in arms isn't a grenade-happy fiend that manages to latch a plasma grenade on your back every 20 minutes or jump in front of you as you're going for the kill with an energy sword. :angry The dual-weapon weilding feature is an especially nice touch depending on your preferred combination, and the new SMG goes a long way in making up for the worthless assault rifle from Halo and the even more worthless battle rifle in Halo 2. Oh, the ability to hijack vehicles is definately a nice and nifty feature as well, and if anyone even mentions Grand Theft Auto as the inspiration for this, I'll slap you - this is done with far more style. Nothing beats jumping onto the back of a moving Ghost and punching the Elite from it, or pounding a hole through a Wraith's armor and throwing a frag grenade inside. Now, the bad. The graphics. I know I said they were good, and if you catch them in the game at the right time, they are. However, I've lost count of the times where a movie would switch to a new scene and there would be a noticeable 1-second delay for the bump-mapped textures to render on surfaces - this is most noticeable when looking at the Master Chief. As Funkstar and Tachikoma both noted, textures switch resolution quickly and with no attempt at making this process smooth or relatively invisible. Also, weapons. The dual-weilding feature I lauded is not without it's flaws, and I'm not talking about not being able to hold two shotguns, as I've heard some people bitch about - that makes sense. I'm talking about how you automatically lose your left hand weapon when initiating any sort of melee attack, sometimes irretreivably. Seeing as the majority of weapon melee attacks involve hitting an enemy with the weapon and not your fist, there doesn't seem to be any logical reason why this had to happen. Also, on the topic of weapons, the pistol now sucks ass, and there's no reason to use it unless you have nothing else. Apparently Bungie's idea of 'balancing' a weapon is synonimous with "removing any and all usefulness it ever had". Also, were you a fan of the repeating and utterly confusing interior levels in the first one? No? Well, they're baaaaack! I don't think I need to say any more about this. Oh, and did I mention the cheap AI and the dodgy damage system? I wish I kept track of the times where I have given an Elite two slashes with an energy sword, and am immediately killed by a punch from his gun - full shields and all. Another thing I've noticed is that enemy punching completely preempts use of the energy sword - if you're approaching an Elite or especially a Brute, you had better hope that you are into the attack animation before they start their punch, or you're gonna be knocked on your ass if you're just pressing the attack button at that time. And don't even get me started on how quickly a Flood can take you out. So overall, it's a decently fun, though flawed, product, definately not worth the 9.9 IGN gave it. I almost hate to say that I was right and that the end product didn't quite stand up to the hype, but it's true. Granted, it does not exhibit such a wide margin between hype and suckage as Fable did, but BEST GAME EVAR it ain't. Go play Gunstar Heroes if that's what you want.
