I have been trying to change my card for months now, as my old card has expired and is no longer in use.

On the xbox, you can't do much other than add a new card. It fails to accept my card.

My card is a Visa debit. It works as a Visa card. I've used it online in the UK and US (for example, Amazon). Noone has EVER declined it, other than Microsoft.

I went onto Microsoft Billing. Oh my God, that site is confusing! Here's what I found:

It knows I'm in the UK.

For some reason, I have 2 accounts - I think one is my old Hotmail Plus account.

I cannot delete my credit card.

I cannot change my credit card details to another card - I have to add it.

It STILL wouldn't authorize my new card.

It is REALLY hard to find a way to call someone. You go to contact, and it throws you back in a circle. Then you FINALLY find the Xbox support page. It takes you to the US page DESPITE knowing that you're in the UK!

    In short, their system SUCKS.

So I call the 0800 number. Get deafened by the xbox noise. Sit listening for nearly 2 minutes to how I could be looking up solutions online (good job it's free!). Then get through to someone in India.

He was very helpful, but we came to the conclusion that Microsoft wouldn't accept my card. I had 2 options:

    1. Cancel my subscription. This will delete my card (it will STILL appear on my account, though?!?! only without the 4 digits at the end). My account becomes silver. Then buy a gold subscription card in a shop.

    2. Don't cancel, get a reference number, get the card, call back, give the ref. no. and the number from the MS card.

Hmm... do they not want my money?!?!

They should rename it Microshaft xBollox Dead.

    no shit.

my billing address on my UK card has changed to a Greek street address and it won't allow me to authorize/use my own card ffs. The "country" dropdown is locked on UK, despite it being irrelevant for the purposes of charging, considering it's an English-issued credit card (mastercard proper) linked to an English account.

Hence..why I have about 25 purchased games on PSN and NONE on my 360, despite having it for longer!

In the USA if you call there line and say agent enough times you get someone and usually they fix shit. I had them charge me after I cancelled, called them up and they refunded me and gave me free MS points, and a friend had his card get rejected; couldn't add one etc, called them up and they fixed it, so I dunno. Maybe I'll be getting this crap since I'm about to change cards.

Is it true it takes a year or so for MS to delete your info off there server?

I called them up and they wouldn't fix it there and then, as they couldn't accept the card either. They had to cancel my subscription and tell me to go out and buy points. Maybe I should write to them and tell them I have a disability, and they're making it very difficult for me to get on Xbox live - discrimination! lol.

Barc0de, there's a video on XBL in the UK of 2 guys who are from XBL answering questions (I forget its name). My friend showed me an episode in which they answer how to delete your card - go to xbox.com and do it there! He showed me that he'd done it, and it works. He reckons you can also change your address and such now, too. Give it a try ;-)
