Anyone have 1st/3rd party NES/FC/NeoGeo kit info? -nt-

    Yeah, NES and NG dev always intrigued me most... there doesnt seem to be much out there though, someone here posted one picture of a FC dev kit, months ago but that's all :-(

    Really? I never saw it. I've seen a picture of an Intelligent Systems console with Famicom controllers however. (Who knows what that was, could just be a Wideboy with FC controllers)

    BTW, the best place for Neo information is Mame source ;(

    NeoGeo dev Kit...., it hard to know. ( i have see in japan SNK they useing X68000 computer with 68050 CPU dev )
    but the kit......one 3 set in SNK office. in world only less than 6 set.......

    Well there were a few 3rd party AES/MVS/CD developers right? More than 3 I wager...

    SNK/Playmore only made about 50% of the games so there has to be more.

    That would be quite complex though, the NG must have the most complex cartridges ever with their 2 PCBs, and then there's the size of the later games... I'm sure it wouldnt be possible to pull off with SRAM. And with the additional complexity of the system's mainboard, I imagine it would be simpler to use something of a RAM cart in a modified retail unit, maybe with an ICE or something on the 68k, instead of cramming the whole Neo hardware on an ISA board.

    Anything is possible with SRAM, I don't know why SNK couldn't rig something up, they made so many custom chips for their hardware anyhow. I think the later games were most likely developed using emulators...
