    http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/

Another good looking front-end and it's free. I don't use it as it take ages to configure and i like Maximus better....

I tried Hyperspin and it looks nice, but in practice it sucks because you have to spend ages configuring it, unless you want to scroll every single game released for every system to find the ones you have installed. You even have to rename all your ROMs to conform to its naming scheme!

There's GameEx also, it's a bit expensive and not near beautyful like hyperspin, but works well.

For me the major problem is setup the front-end, I hate to spend more time tracking covers, box, snaps, titles pics instead of playing...

I wish there was a simple frontend were you could add all emulators you wanted it to load. The main screen you would select the system and then a black background and a cover flow selection style would appear. Automatic cover download would be an extra.

Would be great for HTPCs and good for home computers as well.

    Hi,

Thanks for posting this. I want to do the same and am considering a Shuttle XS-35 (fan-less) but it's getting quite old now so am also looking at a Foxconn NT-330I or the newer, AMD-based Revo RL70 that you are using. My only concern about the Revo or Foxconn are that they have fans. How noisy do they get?

I'd mainly be playing old-school MAME, CPS-2 for Mighty Pang and Mars Matrix and UAE Amiga for SWOS.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    Cheers

Revo RL70 is very quiet, the fans don't make a noise at all. Can't comment on the Foxconn.....

Did you actually build a PC in a pizza box, or is this some kind of euphemism?

I'm looking to throw together one into a custom arcade cab. I'm thinking with the advent of the Atom processor and such....you can get really quick booting machines which would be perfect for this. Anyone mind helping me out with picking out some components?

If you get an Atom, get the very latest... A N270, even overclocked, struggles to achieve 60 fps in moderately demanding emulators.

BTW "pizza box" refers to a specific type of desktop that literally looks like a pizza box. Probably the best known is the Macintosh LC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh_LC

The Atom is fine for most emulators (Listed in this thread) but sucks for Saturn, GameCube, Wii, PS2 etc....

You can get Micro-ITX boards that take an i3. Pair that with an SSD and a 2.5" HDD for ROM's, that would be your best bet for something small and quick.

Like mooseblaster said, a pizza box case isn't just any horizontal box, it's usually about half as tall as a regular desktop case. Don't think I've seen a pizza box case in many years.

I've been ripping some PSX games to images but it takes loads of HDD space, is there any way of using mp3 audio with bin/cue to save space (using maximus arcade)
