I want to light up my clear purple controller with some white LEDs. Where do I put the capacitor to make it look the controller powers down? I may buy a clear system to light up too. Show me some pics please.
I haven't done this ,but I can give you the info that may help you. Normal leds used in this situation work well on a voltage from 1.5 volt to 4 volts (anything higher will burn out the led.) and there is a few places you can get this on the n64 and controller. One is the controller port and its respecting pin in the controller another one is the n64s psu as it has a 3.3v pin. Leds have polarity so pickup a multimeter. Use hot glue for mounting. Another spot to get the power is off the 5 volt power regulator if you equip a resistor.
Yeah I actually get all my leds from ebay because I get the best deals from hong kong. I have blue and green 3mm and 2mm that I got for my gamecube and gameboy but I have a bunch more coming in the mail right now. Do you know about what are the different types of LEDS? like 7000 mcd, what is that? even though That's kind of off topic.
Thats just means how bright the led can get. mcd is a unit used for the measurement of brightness. Think about it like this the higher the mcd is the brighter the led can get.
The console will be easy to mod if you know how LEDs work. There are many points to take 3.3/5/12 v from. I don't ever feel comfortable modding a controller, just because I'm afraid of it somehow lagging( even though I'm probably just being stupid)
I didn't think of that. Oh well, I have more than 4 of them and the purple one I want to do it to has a loose joystick so if it gets messed up its not like I won't be able to play yoshis story. I actually got the idea from an ebay seller, he's selling modded n64 controllers right now, I should save the pictures before somone buys them. But putting LEDs in anything is easy, changing the color led in my gamecube was one of the first mods I did if you can even call it one. the gamecube is black with a blue 7000mcd btw and soon it will have a region switch
Look at my last post a click on the word here it shows you all the optimal places to get power for your leds. Wire the 3.3v to the positive leg and the negative leg to the gnd(aka ground)
