Anyone have "wheat gluten intolerance/Celiac Disease"? Probably a wierd question to ask, but I was wondering if anyone else has ever dealt with this. I dunno if anyone knows but I've been really fucking sick for a few months now, and we've singled it down to a wheat gluten intolerance, also called celiac disease (I think). Of course I'm going to try to get to a doctor mario to confirm but I have about every sympton. The thing is, everything seems to have wheat or something in it. What the fuck am I suppose to eat? Another thing that makes sense is I always throught wheat and whole grains were good for you, so I made an effort to eat wheat over white etc, and now it's near killed me?? Fuck this. Anyhow, just wanted some tips. It's suppose to be pretty rare so I dunno. If it is this it's definetly done some damage. I hope it is this since then I'd know whats going on. I guess you do a blood test and they see if you have antibodies fighting it or something. I'm just certain this is it, I've looked at everything else and this matches up perfect. I'm sort of relieved but pissed off.
You need to be tested, there are several diseases that can hide as this. Namely things like crohns, etc. Gluten intolerance is common in certain races of people. You can avoid gluten quite easily. This is the company I use for all my bread making components. http://www.bobsredmill.com/home.php You need to get a FULL test to make sure. Go find an doctor who can test at his office, no sense in paying for lab work and waiting, only to need to pay for another visit. Makes sure they test there. What is your racial background it you don't mind me asking? I have some unusual allergies that almost killed me, and they are directly traceable to my ancestry.
Theres plenty of stuff made for people with those kinds of problems. Ive got a pack of wheat gluten free pasta i shall make in a couple of days to tell you how crap it might be
How can you pinpoint a disease without seeing a doctor? This is exactly the type of ignorance that causes a lot of people to think they have diseases. The world is diagnosing itself through the internet nowadays, only to be wrong almost all of the time.
I was at a doctor's office a long time ago (hardly ever get sick, and last time it was for a burst appendix), and there was this guy there. He was fat and obviously didn't get out much. Had an annoying voice. He brought with im a list of possible diagnoses lol for what he was having. The receptionist, being as nice as she could kept a straight face. I could barely contain myself! The guy thought he knew what he was talking about, but clearly he doesn't. I never go to webmd or look up. I do look up symptoms, but I don't immediately judge what I might have. I just tell the doctor what I'm feeling and he takes care of the rest. Also, phrequency.... it's not lupus..
Dr. House has a bad influence on the public. Oh well, I think I should check my allergies when it comes to some E numbers, such as the E330 and others in that family of acids and nitrates. Since I know my weight is the issue with my allergies. So the only thing I can say is, to myself is I have to loose weight bigtime.
Thanks for the link. Crohns is definitely a possibility but I'm missing a few of the symptons. I've got to get to a doctor obviously, but the last couple days I have been doing a little better and I avoided wheat/breads/grains etc the last few days, thats the reason I think this could be it. I'll have to double check but I think I'm a part spanish. Cool, thanks. Notice the part thats says "I have to get to a doctor to confirm"? I didn't diagnose myself through the fucking internet. Seriously, it might make you feel super cool to say something like this in a thread where I'm simply asking if anyone has ever dealt with it but remember that on the other side of the fucking internet there is a real person going through serious bullshit right now. I live in the middle of nowhere, I have no insurance, the nearest doctor is very far away. I'm not even going to take the time to explain anything else. I don't care. But it does fucking suck. I've got this to deal with along with a bunch of other bullshit, on top of that I'm moving to another state soon. I just want some information, not a bunch of people telling me to go to the doctor. I'm not fucking stupid and I'm not trying to diagnose myself through the internet.
A friend of mine has this disease and before being diagnosed she was going through some really crappy days, then, with a special diet she started recovering and feeling better. Now she takes special care with food and drinks (don't forget you shouldn't be drinking any beer or whiskey, though you can for example drink vodka) and she is just fine. It might be a pain in the ass to always have to be thinking on what or what not to eat but once you get everything sorted out you can deal with it smoothly. Good luck.
PhreQuencYViii: I hope you get it cleared. Since having allergies are a bitch. And having cocoa allergy and some fucked up C vitamin connection allergy sucks bigtime for me. I can now look back on some stupid hospital trips I have been through already. So I will ask my doctor tomorrow about getting an E number allergy test, and she is allowed to throw a few wildcards into the bunch of the E numbers. Even though I have a pretty good idea, what E numbers I am allergic to, then it doesn´t hurt to check what else can royally fuck me up. But I am pretty where the main allergies are when it comes to me, but it is better to get it confirmed .
The arrival of cheap processed grains has caused this to be a big problem. Whole grains or mixed grains generally are less problematic. Gluten free products are just as tasty, but more expensive. I made some gluten free chocolate chip cookies and they were incredible. They were made with carob, it really surprised me how good it tasted. I prefer to eat a very varied diet, and sometimes I will go three days before I realize I've been unintentionally eating vegan. In america and other countries that are "first world", the average meal is what was used to be a treat 40 years ago. A hamburger with cheese was a real treat, something almost dream-like back in the days of WWII and before. Now it's daily food, we eat too rich and appreciate none of it. I eat primarily an asian / greek foods. When I do have crazy food like a cheese steak I really enjoy it. However I find with a good diet you crave those things less and less. It's been over a year since I had one, and to be honest I don't miss any of it. I bake my own bread and try to make as much of my food myself. My weak spot is soda, if I could marry coca-cola I would and we would have many many diabetic children.
Hmmm Zero taste a bit like Jolly Cola , but with a more rich flavour to it. And well, when I can´t get a Cocio (thanks to my allergy) to my bratwurst or my Fransk Hotdog , or my Frankfurter . Then a Coca Cola Zero is not bad at all. Or a Coke Light (Diet Coke) is fine too, or when I am eating Roasted Pork sandwich for that matter. Then a Coke Light is fine too. So I enjoy the sugar free sodas every now and then. But these things fits best at a Sausage wagon.
My aunt is a celiac. I don't know about your area but here, which is not exactly the most wholefoodsy place in the world, there are still plenty of gluten-free products in the average market and the sections are always growing. I've seen rice/tapioca substitutes for just about everything, so if you cook for yourself, it may not be so bad, but of course it's not the same and eating out for a celiac sucks. It even sucks for those eating out with a celiac lol
My wife was (mis)diagnosed with Celiac/gluten intolerance recently. It is NOT something to take lightly, both either by jumping in thinking you have it, or ignoring it thinking that it is something else. There are many tests that can be done, such as simple blood/urine tests, and invasive intestinal (upper and lower tract) biopsies. A bit contrary to what Kevin said, it can be easy to avoid gluten, but usually only if you prepare all of your foods yourself. Food coloring and common ingredients such as dextrose may contain tiny amounts of gluten, but products containing such ingredients aren't required to include miniscule amounts in allergy warnings. Unfortunately, tolerance varies and even the tiniest amount can cause problems for some people. The best place for information that we found was here: http://www.glutenfreeforum.com/index.php
Silly me, but it does sound like you have already made up your mind about what illness you have, which often actually makes it more difficult for the doctor to help you. I'm sorry to hear you are uninsured though, I thought those days were behind us and that most people had the brains to realise that insurance is there for a reason.
Well, sorry for the snippy response. I do really think this is the problem, but I'm not a doctor, I just play one on TV. For now this is the only thing I have to go by I guess, and avoiding anything related to wheat the last week has really helped. Today I ate mostly fruit (banana, etc) and I've felt way better today then in the last month. I just get pissed at responses like that because I can't easily go to the doctor, if I could I would. Hope you get where i'm coming from. I was mostly irked by the response, not you. They check your villi for damage or something in the biopsy, right? But she didn't have it? It looks like if this is the problem, I'm going to have to learn how to cook. I'm looking into a place thats suppose to go by your income, hopefully I can get checked out because this sucks, though I had a good day today.
