Just wondering is there anyone on here thats a fan of the gamecube RPG homeland?? Personaly i love it even more than zelda, so much so that im translating a walkthrough for it at this very moment, so non japanese readers can play. Its roughly 80% finished but theres still a lot of work to do, progress is going slow because i only have an extremely limited knowledge of japanese so its mainly me & about 4 online translation pages (^_^) It's still pretty cool that you can go online & turn your cube onto a server so you dont have to pay any online fees. Heres a page of movies from chun soft's site, http://www.chunsoft.co.jp/game/homeland/movie.html And heres a mini startup guide i did before i started doig the whole walkthrough. http://ntsc-uk.domino.org/showthread.php?t=46117
Is this title commonly available in Japan? I know Sega published Homeland, but I am rather tempted to pick this up when I am in Japan.
I'd love to see that game on the Revolution for a US release, in a similar fashion to what happened to animal crossing.
Yeah it should be pretty easy in japan to get a copy. Originally you could only get it from chunsoft directly via mailorder, but sega kindly started selling it via their sega direct website (bless em) (^_^)
i think i played the beta version of it back in the days...was pretty cool. i think i have to get the game somehow
Was always a big question mark for me. In the end, I never bought one. I remember them stirring up GC fans by originally planning to sell it online only.
Just another small update, the story guides are now 100% translated i just need to put it all together now & edit it. The main idea behind the game is you transported to homeland via the angel that lives in your wardrobe, there are many people in homeland that need your help theres a story tree system. In the game theres lots of different endings, now depending on what actions you chose or who you talked to the story will change & eventually fall into one of the story branches. Theres lots of them like volume of darkness, volume of boron parts, volume of para diaka ect..... Theres also one very special volume called the tale of 100 years ago which explains what happened to homeland. That one is special as it allows you to play in human form. Anyway you contol the game via avatars that you select from the chest in your bedroom, each avatar has a different set of abilities. You only start out with a few & as you complete certain chapters you can buy more for the next time around. Now by holding hands with other characters you can absorb their powers & your health & magic bars increase in size. Only the person at the front can fight & control where everyone goes. In online mode theres 2 versions. First version is where you host a game making your gamecube into a server (god mode) now in god mode you get a to control everything in homeland as other quester visit your world & explore. you can send the players messages via the phones & you can cast spells to make stuff happen or summon monsters ect.. however you can only play god mode if you have bought the big god mascot from the angel at the beginning of the game also you cant go online until after you comple the game once. The second mode is where you go scan the online lobby & connect to any gamecubes running in god mode, when you connect you will see a list of people who have set up online games & you can choose to enter their world. If you want you can also password protect these games so stranger cant enter without your permission. In this mode you will play like the offline mode where you can have access to all the different story branches, however some storys can only be completed in online mode. Online is pretty cool as its quite easy to setup & it works outside of japan. Its tons of fun making massive chains of 10 players & destroying everything in site. LOL bosses dont stand a chance.
Wow that sounds pretty awesome, and outside of japan is possible? Makes buying the game (and forcing friends to) and a bba worthwhile maybe, and if you're writing an walkthrough makes it even better.
