As the titles says, I am considering using BidPay instead of PayPal for all of my auctions on eBay that I'll have coming up. (pretty common game/dvd/cd stuff, if I decide to sell anything that is semi-interesting, I'll post it here first :-D )

This isn't intended to be a BidPay vs PayPal thread, I'd still accept paypal from known users on this board should I decide to sell stuff here, but I just want less hassle than PayPal's we don't give a fuck about our sellers company standpoint.

Has anyone had experience, good or bad, with bidpay?

Also I am guessing you need to register to have the money order sent to you? Or do only the buyers need to register to use it? (didn't see this on their FAQ section)

Sorry if this has been addressed before but I only found a few responses in an older thread, here: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4358&highlight=bidpay

I think it's ok for the seller but crap for the buyer. Not sure what their policy is on stolen credit cards though. You might want to check that out before you use them.

Alright, thanks for the advice, I'll take a look.

And if it's crap for a buyer, no one will be really be happy to use it = potentially less bids
I guess I'll just be cautious with paypal and hope for the best. And still accept regular money orders too, but hardly anyone uses those if there is a paypal payment option. Which I understand, I don't like to make more trips to the post office than I have to...

I used bidpay allot before paypal introduced the 'banktransfer to paypal account' feature. It was easy and fast. However paypal is more convinant and more accepted.

What I meant by "crap" is in my experience. When you use a CC to send the MO, it's goes on your card as a cash advance meaning no buyer protection like a regular transaction.

PP is no better just look around. I have been lucky with them and have had all (3 or 4) of my bad transactions handled for me. You really have to be careful of international buyers. Not that they are all crooks by any means... it's just that you need to provide tracking and that's not cheap (normally). Most people I've dealt with didn't want to spend the extra money so YMMV.

BidPay is ok, I use it all the time. It's more expensive for buyer (and less protected obviously), but for some ppl who don't want (or can't use) PP it's basically one of the greatest payment methods. You don't need to be registered with them, they just send you a money order to your home address.
