I know it is a long shot, but I am hoping someone here has gotten a look at the SDK for the 360. I am not asking for it, but I want to know if it has controller extensions for lightguns like the regular XDK has. Feel free to PM or email me in private if you would rather not publicly post.
Either it is the number of days I will have to wait for an answer, or it is the enumeration value equivalent of the lightgun descriptor...or it is just something random...
NDA's are a civil matter. It would be impossible to be jailed unless the NDA covered government classified information or the content of the NDA-covered material was actually illegal. Now it COULD be the number of lawyers MS would send after any breachers...
Sorry, my legal background was kicking in there for a second. You would be amazed at the number of people who think that they can go to jail just for breaking a contract like this.
haha I understand, no problem. hopefully someone can offer an answer to your original question, either by posting here or in private.
May I ask why you want to know? Without looking at that part of the SDK, I can say that they probably will support lightguns (by not looking, I'm not breaching NDAs). If I do look at it then I can't comment. Legal issues aside, I want to carry on working.
maybe we should ask why it wouldn't instead? the xbox has support for it so why shouldn't the xbox360 have support?
Not true. Most of the people I know working on 360 are planning hdd support. Also, it doesn't matter if lightguns are supported natively. The accessory manufacturers such as Logitech will provide libraries anyway. They are always keen for developers to support their hardware.
Initially we will see plenty of games that support the hard drive and a few that require it (FFXI). I think that it will all depend on how many hard drives are sold as to whether or not we will continue to see HD support in the 360 games though.
since hd support for caching/saving is optional, i guess most of the games will support it, no matter how many hd's are sold. also most of the people around me want to buy the hd kit from the start, and i guess its basically the same everywhere.
On a related note, I was wondering if the DEVs are allowed to make the HD mandatory for some of their games without getting permission from MS first. MS have said many times that they want to make it an even playing field for consumers so that those who don't want a HD don't have to get it to play 360 games. Obviously, this limits the developers somewhat as well as overall system performance. Requiring a HD for a game that needs more resources is a far better tradeoff than limiting a game for those few that won't be getting the premium bundle.
This is the one part of the 360 launch that really is strange... to split your hardware market so that there are systems with or with out the hard drive. It seems like a HDD should be standard... it almost seems like a step back to not have one.. Side note: most people i have spoke with on this matter are going to be getting the 360 bundle that comes with the hard drive.
