Hi Fester, he has 58 of them on eBay at present so I don't think speed is necessary, however if you are not intending to travel that far then don't worry. I may be able to find something more local, or at least someone willing to plonk it into the post to me.

I have to admit, I think the seller is a bit optimistic thinking that 58 Ipswich residents need defunkt Apple equipment.

I've not placed a bid on anything yet, so not tied to the auction. ;-)

If you think about it Fester, it's actually a pretty good idea for you to pick one up for your MIDI implimentation ;-)

Just go for one with 512Mb - I would be doing the same.

I was thinking of more at home applications if you go for an Apple iBook. You could simply use the bigger unit for all the processing power and the iBook for the sequencing on the hoof. ;-)

Fair enough, but you will find the best, most easily obtained (and more crucially) cheap applications for your usage are mostly mac based. It's only relatively recently that PC's have taken over from MIDI/AUDIO applications and I have to admit, they tend to give fewer errors - hence my interest in that hunk of blue & white junk lol

Keep in mind that a G3 isn't going to run audio apps well. I'm taking an audio recording course that uses Logic Pro 7, and we're using G5 iMacs, which is pretty much the bare minimum. With the right graphics card, some RAM and maybe a CPU upgrade, the G3 isn't a bad system.

I think that Fester is considering it mostly for MIDI usage. I've previously used it for MIDI & Audio, but not using Logic Pro #. I've been using Cubase and it works a treat for what I do. I also suggested a sampler, but it really does depend on what you have in mind. Fester is going to be using it primarily for MIDI however and at £10 you can't go wrong with a Mac.
