I'm looking for a way to veryify the digital display on a VW Golf. It seems that there is no hundred thousands place on the odometer. Right now it reads 21805.0 I know that there should be at least a 1 before that. Could I possibly hook a digital readout to the computer port and access this information?

I've searched around a bit for this info, but I can't seem to find anything useful..

how do the seats and the steering wheel look? if very worn that is a good (in this case bad) sign that the car has a far higher mileage.

    • Look for service records, oil stickers, or warranty cards which may reflect the mileage of the vehicle.
    • Ask to see the odometer statement which the seller received when he bought the vehicle for comparison.
    • If buying from a dealer, if possible contact the previous owner to verify the mileage and condition of the vehicle.

VW must have thought of this beforehand so I'd call a dealer up and see if they can check.

Try Carfax or similar? If it was emissions inspected, they record the odometer value as part of the report, I believe.
