I know that a lot of people on this forum are very passionate about retro games as am I, but the current gen games often bring some excitement to the table. Everyone’s heard of Fortnite by now right? If you haven’t, check it out! It’s free to play on PS4 and Xbox at the moment, you don’t need to even pay for Playstation plus or Xbox live to play online. Also interestingly enough, Fortnite is supposed to come to mobile. I personally don’t care about that, but I’m thinking of they are able to port Fortnite to mobile, there’s a small hope that maybe this game might make it to Nintendo Switch! I am addicted to this game, and last night I played my best game ever with 2 kills and 7th place. It was pretty fun. Have anyone here on the forums done really well at Fortnite? Or is there anyone who hasn’t played it yet?
I've played a couple of games on PC having watched a few LP videos on youtube, so decided since it's free why not play it as I don't play a lot of newer/current games. Still a newbie at it but I got 3 kills my first game within a few minutes, and finished surprisingly high up somewhere in the mid-teens. Subsequent games have been over for me quite quickly as expected, but I did get a kill in them. It's fun, but then I think I might prefer PUBG (Yet to play it so not sure) as its not got the building aspect which I don't really care for .
Yeah I’m not a huge fan of the building aspect either... although it’s growing on me little by little. It’s fun to see how quickly other players can throw up a fort. I’m might have to try pubg.
The building part of it makes the game change considerably in the endgame. The game for most people (who won't win a match) it is just a shooter, but for the people routinely who make it to the end, it's a game centered around building, the win or lose is all about how good your defense is (build). It's visually unappealing, but it works on even crap computers, so it is popular where people can't or won't buy PUBG.
You’re right, I’ve definitely noticed that the building always happens in the end game. I’m never able to build as fast as the people on top positions do, although I’ve been getting better. I’m also not a big fan of the art style (or lack thereof) either. But the game is fun, and it’s free, and like you said @ASSEMbler it runs on almost anything. That’s a win in my book.
This is a big win for people with not a lot of money. Russia, Brazil, etc. All these people had to watch PUBG, and just feel like they were poor. Now they can enjoy. I think that if games with engines were released to countries with less opportunity, there would be a huge renaissance in gaming. Make a game, sell on steam, become rich! It's capitalism at it's best.
I keep meaning to give it a go, but I'm a bit shy when it comes to PvP. Watching some of the vids are hilarious, though.
It’s definitely worth a go. The community is rather toxic.. but you can play without a headset and just have fun
I have it on my PS4 and play the odd game. Best result yet is second place but I'm just not quick enough at building to survive. I do spend a huge amount in PUBG on my PC though. The somewhat realistic aesthetic visuals and weapon physics appeal to me much more. I do hope it gets a PS4/PS4Pro port one day though so I can play it more casually and not constantly chase better FPS.
H1Z1 Battle Royale is coming to PS4 in May I believe. The PUBG test servers had the new map on Xbox the last few days so that should roll out soon as well.
