I sure am not, hehe. But those Harry Potter parties do look kinda fun. All those people in seats in a large hall eating splendid feasts. I wouldn't want to miss that! ======================================================= My title says nes Harry Potter book by mistake, it should be new Harry Potter book.
lol have you guys seen all the message boards with the harry potter spoilers everywhere? Funny stuff.
am i the only one that can read ''anyone ready for the nes harry potter book?'' the word homebrew came to my mind, and now i'm here 0_o
Hehe, by the time I put my post, I noticed I had a typo in the New Thread. It read nes instead of new. Well anyway, it would catch people's attention to take a peek inside.
I've read them. I like the books, but I haven't bought the new one, yet. I don't have money to throw around, and I don't exactly have the time to read it, anyway.
Holy hell, I stopped by Barnes & Noble last night after work to look for a book, and I had to fight my way through crowds of slavering fans the whole time, most of whom were dressed up in some form or another. It was nowhere NEAR this creepy at my store's midnight Halo 2 launch last October, and we must have had twice as many people as I saw at B&N. Of course, this was still early in the evening, but damn... scary stuff. Despite the urging of many of my friends to read the whole series, I've never gotten into - nor particularly liked - Harry Potter. J.K. Rowling - to me - proves that someone doesn't have to be a good WRITER to be a good storyteller (and the quality of the storytelling is, in my opinion, debatable as well.)
I sort of like Harry Potter, because it makes kids read. Call it a gateway drug - you read potter, then you go for lord of the rings, then you go to read... I don't know, Kafka or McEwan or some real literature. Then you have a generation with a higher literacy rate, and therefore, a better understanding of the world, or simply more open minds. And it makes language teachers' jobs easier!
For me, it's just something to read. Most of the "twists" are predictable and tired, but it's not a bad read. Like XerdoPwerko said, at least kids are reading more .
And did you hear about the NES Harry Potter? Because, according to 1up's toastyfrog, there's a Harry Potter Chinese Hack for the good old NES. So maybe Mark30001's title was prophetic in nature. Anyway, here's the link. http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=5255750&publicUserId=5379721
Just finished reading the new book. Quite fun. That said, GSL, you share my sentiments regarding Rowling's writing ability. Espcially in the first book. The writing is just awful, but it tells a good story, so I got over it. The writing does get better as you get deeper into the series.
