It's not bad. I rented it at Blockbuster a week ago. The plot intrigued me enough to check it out

During the Seventh month on the Chinese calendar, the gate of hell open and the dead rise to walk the earth. There are rules people must follow for 30 days in order to survive. Never swim, never turn back at night when you hear someone call and never talk to strangers on a deserted road. Break any of the rules and you face the haunting consequences. Rosa (Alessandra Di Rossi) a young woman from the Phillipines arrives in Singapore to work as a domestic maid. Naive and innocent she has never believed in the supernatural and ultimately breaks the rules of the seventh month one by one. Now she will pay a terrible price for her ignorance

Not a classic, but fun to watch at 2 AM in the dark alone. The sound in this film is crazy.... they're sharp and spooky as hell

The first question is, is it scarry? If it is then I'd love to watch it. The second question is, What do you define as scarry? Best post the title of another movie that you think is scarry as well :)

If a horror film makes me think about it long after the movie is over, it did its job well.

Ju-On is still the creepiest film I've ever seen. Me and my then-GF caught the theatrical showing at midnight back in 2004 when it was making its rounds... we walked back to her apartment at like 2 in the morning, and all I could think about was the Ju-On lady...

Phone and Audition creeped me out as well.... but don't have the lasting impact Ju-On has. To this day, I still think about some of the Ju-On scenes from time to time... mind you, I saw it on the big screen at midnight with the surround sound off the chain. That's the way to watch it.

THE MAID creeped me out to a good degree. Some scenes will make you jump in your seat, others plain give you the willies. All in all, worth the couple bucks to rent, if you like horror films.

On a side note, I rented See No Evil along with the Maid. SNE was very mediocre slasher material. I love horror movies of most sorts, but the American-made ones have never really disturbed me. The Asian horror films are where it's at, in terms of truly giving you goosebumps, IMHO. Something about them that is moreso distressing than the average American-made horror film. I found Halloween creepy as hell as a 5 year old. Today, it's pretty damn tame (but I still love it)

Sounds like a good one to watch :) I've seen the japanese movie, Juon which I liked so I'll see if I can track down the maid. Knowing my luck though, they have probably changed the title. That's something I don't really get about Japanese movie titles. For instance, Final Destination was called Final Destination in Japan but parts two and three were called Deathcoaster and Deathcoster Final !?! What is that all about then? The 2nd movie had nothing to do with costers while the 3rd one I can sort of understand since it did have a rollercoaster in it.

I have to agree, though I found Audition somewhat deprived but not scary. Always found the meowing kid to be much more frightening in Ju-On than the mother. Just don't watch Memento Mori unless you need something to fall asleep to.
