Found my old GBA with (semi-butchered) backlight mod and saw on eBay they are selling for approximately $100. With the mod, these can't be considered collectors' items, can they? Are people still playing the original GBA?

I've got two of them, and I don't use either. The DS Lite is great for playing GBA games, but I would love to get a Micro.

DeChief, why haven't you sold them yet? Sentimental value?

You know it. I had the little bendable light at another point too. So much time spent with my GBA...

I have no idea what the niche for the Micro is. It doesn't play GB/GBC games, and it's so so small. I wish I could find an AGS-101 for a decent price. But I play my SP for all my Game Boying.

I had the NYKO Worm Light. Brought it over from my GBC.

I don't think any of us sell the old GBAs because they're so cheap it's not really worth the hassle.

I haven't really used mine since I got the SP and Micro. Only when I played Four Swords on Gamecube

Summer time, sure, I'll sit outside and play some GBA. Inside at night, I usually go for the SP. I want a backlit one, but those suckers are damn expensive. In a year or whatever, once I've got money for frivolous things again I'll be a lookin though.

One is mine, one is my sister, both were from when we were kids. There's no way in hell she would let me sell hers, even though she hasn't touched the damn thing in years.

GBA never caught on with me. Only game I played on it was Pokemon Ruby... Other than that I'd probably not touch it.

Never actually since I bought a DS. strangely enough found my battery lid back after nearly a decade.

Played a lot of my micro though, amazing in the train if it wasnt me losing it constantly.

Would love to have a spice backlit gba, but not for the price they are going for on ebay.

What's "spice" backlit? Mine was a mod called Afterburner or something. I had to install a dial to control the amount of light it output.

I have the main versions of the GBA except for the Micro, but the AGS-101 is the one I use most of the time. The 101's screen is vastly better than any of the other models, and in a very compact form - like the original GBA SP. The GBA is one of my favorite handhelds; I've spent a lot of time with it on trips and stuff.

My GBA games moved from the original GBA to a DS (albeit briefly), to a DS Lite, then to both a GBM and a GB Player, which is where they still are now.

I don't like the form factor of the SP, so I never even got one. Can't stand hinges on my devices. Unfortunately there's no hinge-less member of the DS family, which has great games, so I couldn't get around them in that case. And the GBM is the best GBA, hands down (only downside: manually building cables for Gamecube connectivity).

I sold mine ages ago, it had a 3rd party battery pack and the afterburner mod which made it usable so I could play Castlevania CotM. Without the mod it was a chore to play IMO, so many great games ruined by that dark screen!

Did you get a 2DS then? It doesn't play GBA games, but most DS games will work (pretty much any that don't require the GBA cart, if I remember right)

Oh yeah, I had a battery pack too. That was...fun.

I had an original gba, played a lot, had the wormlight, but it was only useful indoors. Still have the ez-flash 2 with 32MB. I never got the sp clamshell form, too strange for my hands. Later I have replaced my gba for the ds fat anda it was an instant hit. I almost bought a gba this christmas but I will get my psp back.
