    Assuming all you want to do is play NTSC-U games, what advantage does an AV Famicom have over a toaster NES?

    none. I use a toaster for my NES games, and my AV FAmicom for imports

    Unless you plan to play actual Famicom carts, or use an actual Famicom Disk System you are better off with the so called Toaster NES. The AV Famicom will cost you more to get. You're likely just planning to buy a PowerPAK or EverDrive anyway right? If that is the case, you are wasting money buying an AV Famicom. If you wait a bit though, RetroZone will be selling NES Top Loaders with HDMI output.

    Easier to maintain. More conventional form factor.

    Of course the satisfaction you own something different from what the fandom stands for.

    Yes they are supposed to come out in April , HDMI NES. Hopefully they sell just the chips so people can install them without having to buy another Top Loader. We shall see.
