    Hello all

As title says really. I would like to ask anyone who worked at Blockbuster in the UK during the Dreamcast era, more specifically the rental era, for some information

Basically I have two Blockbuster ex rental Dreamcast units with the carry case. Both come with a 'normal' functioning modem rather than the blanked out 'dummy' modem

I have read that the rental Dreamcast did not come with the modem but the instructions that come with the rental unit clearly show a standard modem installed and even reference it.

I wanted to ask: when Blockbuster sold off the ex-rental units was it store policy to replace the 'dummy' modems with functioning ones? (thus making them more saleable) or is it likely people either bought modems themselves later (where from I don't know?) or have swapped the entire Dreamcast unit for a regular one (ex-rentals may have died soon after purchase if they had hard lives!). Finally perhaps the rental units did in fact come with normal Modems but dream arena wasn't working properly so they couldn't be used anyway.

I am intrigued as I have never seen a blank modem in the UK. I have one from/in an early Asian release machine but no others.

A long shot I guess but wanted to ask if anyone could throw some light on it

    Thanks

    Rob
