    Hi Everyone,

From the looks of things, it sounds like you need an Arcade Card DUO if you plan to play on a DUO and the Arcade Card PRO if you plan to play on a PC-ENGINE + CD-ROM. But what I am unclear about is the compatibility.

If I took the more expensive Arcade Card PRO and used it on my DUO-R, would Arcade card CD games actually run? Or is it totally not compatible, which is why the DUO cards exist? I'm hoping the DUO cards exist simply to be a cheaper alternative (Since you don't need the extra RAM if running from a DUO system), but that PRO cards work anyway.

    According to wikipedia:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TurboGrafx-16

Arcade Card Pro - 17.5 Mbit RAM (2240 kB as 2 MB+192 kB) – RAM upgrade. This greatly expands the RAM available for the CD-ROM unit to 2240 kB. The BIOS revision was unchanged from v3.00. Games developed for this System Card bore the title ‘Arcade Card CD’, and could not be played using an older System Card. The Arcade Card Pro includes the extra 192 kB needed by the non Duo CD system. The 2 MB of RAM is accessed through ports or units of single 8 kB banks and is intended for graphics data storage rather than program code; its flexible addressing system allows for rapid transfer of data to VRAM.

Arcade Card Duo – 16 Mbit RAM (2048 kB) – RAM upgrade. This greatly expands the RAM available for the PC-Engine Duo system to 2048 kB. The BIOS revision was unchanged from v3.00. Games developed for this System Card bore the title ‘Arcade Card CD’, and could not be played using an older System Card. This will only work on the Duo systems, as it does not include the extra memory built into the Duo system.

I bought an Arcade Card Pro with the intent of buying a CDrom2 set up but I ended buying a Super CDRom2 unit and then a Duo, I use the Arcade Card Pro on both without any problems. I probably ought the Arcade Card Duo at some stage... but technically it works and has been working for a long time for me ;)

Thanks gang! If people don't mind me asking, how much is the going rate for an Arcade Card Pro loose? For example, is $45USD a good deal, a fair deal, or a poor deal?

Ebay prices are a joke as always, not sure on the pro cards, but i bought my duo card boxed for 2000Yen, and i saw loose ones for 1000Yen. so you probably looking triple that after reseller tax.

as long you have a super CD-ROM system, you can take what ever is cheaper.
