Hello, wonder if anyone knows any info on arcade machine collection scene, would love to know more on PCB and arcade cabinet exchange if any. I just started on arcade machine collection btw I am new here, Gerrys the name... from brunei. Thanks :smt023
Wish I knew where that was. There are a few of us here that buy/collect PCBs. I've not lived in a city that allows for garages and space since I've had a job, so I'm stuck with Superguns and a TV. I would love vertical Astro City though. The Shmups gan (www.classicgaming.com/shmups) has quite a few PCB maniacs... mainly b/c there's so many shooters you can't get on a home console, or have ass-emulation quality in MAME. Oh, yeah -- welcome.
Wow! From Brunei even, that's something you don't see every day I just got into PCB "collection", I must say it's quite interesting and has an air of super-exclusivity to it. Internet is your only way to go unless you know a cheap arcade dealer, in my experience.
Brunei is part of Borneo island, ya know around Thailand, Singapore... that area you want your ass mailed to Paulo, the FAR EAST!!! Sorry, but that just cracks me up. Yeah, I collect arcade games. If you want help, there are lists out there for arcade collectors, e.g. VAPS (www.vaps.org). You need to own a cabinet (maybe you'll get away with a board I don't remember), and regularly audit your collection to be a member. You can try the VAPS newsgroups for info etc. Also, try searching for JAMMA PCB trades in your favourite search engine. Your best bet will be, of course, the Far East. BEWARE! Most boards in Hong Kong and around your area will be bootleg! Not so much in Japan, but there are lots out there!
thanks for all the info and the welcome! Will check on the sites given. I’m just starting on arcade collection, but mostly I like those fancy shaped cabinet, like I just got a thunderblade arcade unit (helicopter seat model), and super hang-on (motorcycle shape) and yes, brunei is on borneo island, a small nation with 350,000 souls, head of state who WAS previously richest man on earth and where no income tax is present and free education and medical service. great to know this community, really is very informative. Thanks!
You mean sit-down cabinets Hehe, thunderblade is cool, I remember that sit-down! Ooh yeah, I forgot the Sultan of Brunei is the 2nd richest person in the world... hmmm, wonder who is the richest and what industry he's in ;-)
Hi, Yes thunderblade is a sit-down cabinet type, It was quite fav in the early 90's I think. I got the machine at a pretty beat up cond but minor work done and its good as new Our sultan hassanal bolkiah, I think is no longer even 2nd richest, maybe now the 6th or 7th, AFAIK 1st richest now is IKEA owner from sweeden and 2nd bill gates from usa. Paulo... haha not true, only the sultanate family & govt officials who got loads of money, many of the rest like me belongs to just common peasants club
