I'm visiting Paris this easter and was wondering if there are any arcades in the city? I will stay in district 13 (Place d'Italie) which is known for its Asian immigrant population I hear. Would this area also be my best chance of finding arcades? Also, what can I expect? Will there be retro games or just driving and dance simulators?
I'm sure someone will be able to answer better, but I can't really remember any arcades in Paris. I'm going to Calais next week so I'll let you know if there are any left there. As for looking in that area, why not go to Google Maps and use the street view? You can look around the area then ;-)
For my trip last year I posted an almost similar topic here on Assembler: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18588&highlight=paris+retro Unfortunately I did not visit any arcades there, but I was told that "La tête dans les nuages" is pretty much the only one and has lots of racing/bemani games: http://www.ltdn.com/centre-paris.htm Most of the gaming stuff you can find around the Boulevard Saint-Michel (in the small streets surrounding the grand boulevard mainly). If you like old books and rare DVDs, the Saint-Germain-Des-Prés quarter is your friend. I found a shop there that had really goofy shit like à la Bruno Mattei, including loads of these Austrian Hartbox releases (crocodile horror and so on  ).
Hehe yeah thats the only arcade in paris & trust me when i say it's average at best theres not that much interesting stuff in there. Kind of shocking that with the size of paris thats pretty much all there is.
Basically they closed down or reduced the number of machines they had... Jeilong, there is one in an aquatic/theater complex called aquaboulevard in the south west of Paris, it's not very far from Place d'Italie, you just need to take the tramway from Porte d'Italie to Balard, it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to go there, I really have no idea what games they have.
