Are 2 SCSI Terminaters necessary?

I found an old desktop to use with my dreamcast kit. So now I've hooked it up again. The computer acknowledges the Harddrive in the Dreamcast but it says it is inaccesable. However I only have one SCSI terminater. Is it necessary to use 2? Would this explain my problem?

I basically just want to see what is on my harddrives.

 

I've currently powered up my PC with the Dreamcast Dev Box connected and I am able to read the hard drive with just one SCSI Terminator connected (on the SCSI-B port).

Have you updated your ASPI drivers? That may solve some issues. If not, you can find it here:

Thanks for the reply. Now I don't need to bother buying a second SCSI terminater. I have downloaded the drivers directly from adaptec.com. I also downloaded them from somewhere else. But the Driver is exaclty the same from what I can tell. The PC I'm using is running Windows 95 (my old computer from 96), so I can't download the drivers that you linked me too.

I tried this a while ago with my rommmates PC and posted on here. I was having different problems then.

It isn't possible for me to install the harddrive incorrectly is it? I think I have P4 plugged into it and the internal scsi cable. The harddrive is face down (label side up).

 

Do you mean plugging the harddrive directly to the internal part of the SCSI card? Sure, the hard drive will absolutely work connected internally.

 

Oh no that isn't what I meant actually. Right now I have the hard drive in the Dreamcast Dev tower. It is label side up with a power cable plugged in and the internal scsi cable plugged in.

Are you saying I can just plug the hard drive into my adaptec scsi card? I'm using a 2940U2 card I beleive. That might make things easier.

I wouldn't mind figuring out how to use the Dreamcast Dev eventually though.

 

Both ways (connecting the Dev Box to a SCSI card & connecting the harddrive directly to the SCSI card) should work fine. There shouldn't be any problem working with a Dreamcast Dev box on a later OS such as Win XP.

However, if you have the Dev Box connected instead, make sure it is powered on before you power your PC.
