Just curious about something: How has the hype been in Japan when compared to the first Xbox? I know it's no PS3 or Revolution, although I am a bit curious on what the general reaction is in Japan?

I was going to get one but at the moment I have no money to buy such an expensive item. I did pop in to a few game shops though to see how it was doing. Quite a large crowd in Toy's R Us and one indy was having a contest on it. Seems to be doing better than the original anyway. At least this system looks like it belongs to gaming were as the original looked as if it belonged in a car engine :p

Yea, I think they Yakumo may have to commit Sepekku :-(

Seems an Xbox themed Dreamcast is an insult to God in Japan ;-)

Better that than the PS2 themed one :110:

  7. Exactly... I'm still suprised that Sega is willing to release games for the PS2 considering the fact that Sony was pretty much responsible for killing off the past two Sega systems.

well, it's the only way they can make money quickly. Look at it as if they are using them :p

  9. Haha, good point there. Sega is probably just waiting quietly in the background, making games to build up some funds, then preparing to conquer the video gaming world with a new system (one can dream, can't they?)

    Very well said.

Example: OutRun 2 in Xbox. Great game, online play, ... still haven't sold enough. A shame really.

Then Sega makes official a new OutRun 2 version called OutRun 2006 :Coast to Coast, with all the stuff in OutRun 2 and OutRun 2:SP, to be released in PC and PS2. That simply sounds like they need money, period.

Now think about Virtua Fighter 5, After Burner 2,... Do you think they'll bother releasing it for the Xbox ? I think the answer is no. Maybe yes for the Xbox 360, but it will depend on sales.

This may sound really stupid, but is that Yakumo Dreamcast Xbox a real thing, or is it a photoshop job? It's really cool looking and I've been wondering about it for a long time...I hope this wasn't an inside joke or something or I'm going to look really awkward...:crying:

I'm pretty sure it was real. Didn't the guy use a ton of bondo (or something similar)?

Not exactly flying off the shelves:

Seems very similar to the first Xbox launch in Japan.

Yeah, the guys in Hong Kong and Japan canot get rid of their units and the launch was a complete disaster compared to the US and Euro launches.Certain stores in Tokyo were having trouble shifting more than fifty units in a day, now for new hardware in Japan that is pathetic.

At least it means the jap machines will not have inflated prices for us NTSC J console importers.

Its not a huge surprise seeing people keep a wide berth of the Japanese demo pods either, If the prospect of another Xbox isn't bad enough to the Japanese the fact they have to view it on a Korean LCD display has got to be the final nail ;)

I think people look into this too much, it's a cultural thing. The 360 could have launched with FF XII, DQ9, ChronoTrigger 2 and it still would have sold nothing because:

    A) It's American [IMG]
    B) It came from America [IMG]
    C) It's from the United States [IMG]

The Japanese just have to much loyalty for thier home companies. Now, thats *not* a bad thing, I like Sony, err-, well, the games for thier platform, as well as Sega and Nintendo!

But yea, I am American, and I don't mind all the FPS' and sports games either, so I have no problem buying the 360, which should do well in every market that is not Asia. Doesn't mean I neccesarily like Microsoft, but the hardware *is* good, and I know that more than enough game developers will be on board for it to be worth my while. Xbox Live is perfection to boot.

As much as some people want it to, the 360 isn't going away. As far as the US / EU I see another SNES Vs. Genesis. A dead tie untill the end.

And the Japanese...well, keep doing your thing man [IMG]

Consiering the fact that xbox sales spiked every time a new game from Team Ninja was released. I think the 360 will get a short spike and clear units as soon as DAO4 is released.

I mean really come on. They have tetris, PDZ (they're not a fan of fps and its not a very good one to start with), RR6 (their only good game), & few other crap ones.

Dynasty Warriors Extream & some wrestling game are not due out till mid/end december. So still they pretty much got shit to play.
