I've played Time Crisis Project Titan today and is was quite fun. Now I'm interested in Time Crisis 3 for the PlayStation2. I wonder if it works with the old Guncon lightgun for the PlayStation1 ?
i think they do not work, since they also do not work vise versa. i once had a guncon2 which refused its work on gun bullet/gun barl.
Actually, they do. You can use the Guncon 1 on a Guncon 2 game. Just beware that the Guncon 2 is more accurate than the Guncon 1. Obviously you can't use GunCon 2 on GC1 games since they are USB.
Time Crisis 3 and a couple of other games aren't compatible with GunCon, actually. There are extra buttons on the GunCon 2 which are required in some games. You can, of course, get third party guns that support both systems. Some of them are pretty decent, too.
Well, to be fair I only ever tried the Guncon 1 on Vampire Night. I noticed the Guncon 2 was more accurate. I never tried Time Crisis 3 with the GC1.
Hmm, interesting. I think Vampire Night is one of the games considered incompatible with GunCon! Are the extra buttons used, perhaps?
Vampire Night is your traditional type of shooter. I don't believe it uses more than the trigger and reload button. I played through it many times and I'm pretty sure this is the case, and I know for a fact it does work with Guncon 1 cause I played it with that. NTSC U/C version ofcourse.
You could always buy TC3 with the Guncon 2 included. I got my two Guncon 2s like that. I bought Vampire Night brand new which included the gun. Then I bought a used but good condition Time Crisis 2 actually, and then bought TC3 by itself. It is good to note that TC2 (I think, maybe it was TC3 though) there is a single player dual gun mode that some people find attractive.
On a related matter, does anybody know if the GunCon 2 will work if you're using a PS2 component cable? If so, which lead do you hook it up to?
No, you can. You need an unofficial Component Video cable though that has the composite video jack for the Guncon. I have one. Same with RGB cables and GunCon.
I know you can get RGB scart cables with them, but never seen a composite jack on a component cable. Cool!
Instead of composite you can try connecting component's green cable, that provides the same sync unless luminance information is used...
I bought mine on ebay some time ago. It was actually a multi system cable, a 3 in 1 Component cable for PS2, Xbox, and GameCube, but ofcourse the GameCube part uses the Composite Video only. If you search ebay you can find it. Calpis has a good idea about using the Green lead as a replacement for Composite Video as it is the Sync. I have never tried it though as I don't have a CRT that supports Component Video.
Umm, that's all pretty irrelevant - GunCon 2 doesn't work on LCD TVs etc, which you'll probably have if you're running through component! The PS3 gun should work, though, and there are third party ones for the PS2 that are LCD compatible.
Probably doesn't mean definitely. I've never owned a CRT SDTV myself that had Component Video but I have seen a number of them and I think it was common on larger model (20" and bigger) TVs in the US for a certain time frame.
