are microsoft points region restricted? i'd like to buy some points from another region (i'm in europe PAL), if i insert the code for the point will it be accepted or not?
yea, I was wondering that too.. apparently I cant register any credit cards with my account due to the fact that i have a UK gamertag, a UK credit card, but my IP shows that I live in greece. Now I need to buy some points from a store here in Greece, but I need to know how the points will get along with the fact that I have a UK gamertag in another PAL/EU country.
*pretty*? is not enough for me :/ in short i'd like to buy points from princess-isabela, a 4000 points worth 40$... i wouldn't like to end up with 40$ wasted
100% region locked (not by hardware but by region of your XBL account). Whats more funny is the region lock extends to each country. I could not used Canadian XBL point cards on my USA account (my original XBL account I had since xbox 1). I wasted two hours with support till they finaly realised that point cards were region locked.
do they IP check for points? I live in greece but have a UK account and I m willing to purchase UK points if deemed necessary.
UK microsoft points can be used in other EU accounts (I used them to get Braid and Bionic Commando for my spanish account). It seems the region lock is not specific to each country but rather larger areas (EU, USA, Canada...).
It won't work. You have to have a UK account to use UK points, and so on. Ensures you're using the right console, and also that you're paying the right price/tax! Easy answer is buy them online. Amazon for one should ship internationally. You could ask a seller (e.g. on eBay) to open it and e-mail you the code, but that's quite risky! Or just buy them on your Xbox account with a credit card. You can get a pre-pay credit card (try Western Union) so there's no excuse not to, really! ;-)
Sorry, only just saw your message. Under normal circumstances, that wouldn't be a problem. I'm currently not in a great financial situation, though, so it wouldn't be advisable. I can certainly let you know when that changes and its a possibility, though ;-) What do you get if you try buying points with a UK console over there? Does it bring up the prices in pounds? If so, you should be able to buy them with a credit card - although I don't know whether it has to be a UK one. If having a UK credit card is a problem, you could try this: http://www.westernunion.co.uk/WUCOMWEB/staticMid.do?method=load&pagename=osPrepaidCard It's a prepaid MasterCard. Just have it sent to your UK address (if you still have one) and you can top up online. We'll think of a way around it, anyway ;-)
I ve tried getting points with my PC and XBOX and both fail. XBOX says it can't be authorised (obvious IP check) PC just redirects me to a missing page. in all cases, I m stuck without a way to add a credit card or any points=/
Ahh, that sucks. Are you using a UK credit card? I guess it could be possible they're checking that. With the PC, you should be able to use a proxy server in the UK, of course. Here's an idea.... 1. Order with your credit card on Amazon UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-Live-4..._1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1229016866&sr=8-1 They'll ship elsewhere, see here for rates: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=11072971
