Yeah, heya. I ask cause I heard Wiiu disc are Blue-ray equivalents and thus stand abuse better. Not familiar much with Blue-ray. Also, though not a end-of-the-world issue, but found four-six small lines almost connecting on back of Smash Bros 4 disc. Closer toward the edge for four, one above another and then a tiny one hardly noticable on the other side (correction: disappear with light microfiber swip). The four are noticable though. Do not appear to be deep. Not sure where they came from. WiiU sits horizontal, smoke-free and dust is at minimum. Surface it rests on is flat and wooden. Only have taken the game from WiiU to case (excluding to check and picture taken). Have not noticed on any other games (most being Wii titles and the 2 WiiU titles). Game performs beautifully as always. Can say the line over the others was made by the Wii U for sure (made sound of clicking for few seconds while playing; checked once done and that surprise was there). Other ones....maybe from placing the disc in case? Or the WiiU? Or that time I wiped around the WiiU system and maybe that movement disrupted the flow? Have not attempted to microfiber wipe out of concern of screwing up. Anyhow, the surface of these disc seem more "glass-like" compared to Playstation 2 and Wii disc. Are the WiiU disc more durable? Should I be concerned?
i wouldnt be concerned too much, i have some with a few scratches (kids!) but they play perfectly fine, they are definitely more durable than normal CD's and DVD's in my opinion. If you havent noticed any problems when playing your games then i wouldnt worry about it.
I've left my Wii U discs out without the case before and I still haven't seen any noticeable scratches to them. I don't think you have to be concerned at all. I remember when I had the original Wii that it would read games with scratches all over the disc, and the same goes for the PS2. I personally think it'll be fine.
To update this year-old post, the scratches were caused by the WiiU system, as another disc did get the same markings. Removing the backstory, I was told by a Nintendo representative that the issue is known to occur on some of these consoles. Further details.....well, depending on which Nintendo center you send your system for repairs, etc, you can end up with a horror story. Surprisingly, those scratch markings never appeared on Wii games (and I played those more than WiiU discs....physical copies to answer the question).....although, one disc does have a tiny spot after playing in that machine, but not a scratch....I digress.
