Nah, he's using vegetable oil, which is lovely ...Here's another link to it: http://www.markusleonhardt.de/en/oelrechner.html
I remember seeing that years ago hehe, quite old news but still pretty cool and pretty strange. It doesnt screw up the PC because it's not conductive and it kicks ass for absorbing heat
Nice... that (or something similar) was also published in a German PC-magazine 2-3years ago I think... They also had a Version casted in epoxide resin - one solid lucent block ... .. bad for maintenance but pretty cool
Pretty cool & when you get hungry you can crank up the heat & sling in some potatoes to make chips. Or fries for you Us types.
...Yep, it's nothing new, oil cooled transformers, coils and the such like have been in use for years, cooling the P.C is just another application which I thought was worth highlighting ...Oh yes and the idea of being able to cook up some fries whilst playing summat like MOH also appeals to me
Hah! I have free access to liquid nitrogen! Not that I use it for anything, but it'd be fun to run my 486dx4 at 150mhz
Being involved with the RINO foundation (http://www.stichtingrino.nl/ unfortunately Dutch only as of yet), a small group of mainly physics students subsidized by the University of Leiden, we tour around (and outside) the country to demonstrate experiments at schools, science fairs, etcetera - all in the name of promoting science, of course, though there is fun to be had too. The LION (Leiden Institute of Physics Research) is so kind to supply us with the nitrogen
That's not cool, thats ridiculous, just kidding! Maybe one day, PC components would be made up of some liquids, maybe a liquid hard drive (there goes my crazy imagination again...)
Yeh' I think he wanted to avoid using transformer oil as using veg oil was deemed more 'eco-friendly'!!!!! ...Also it smells a tad sweeter when boiling
Only germans can be so cool but i think he got something wrong there...i also have that big glass box, but i use it for water, with fishes in
Thats cool but he has to keep the HDD, floppy, and CDROM out of there because those components can get screwed up.. I'd use a P4 prescott set up, cool it with vegetable oil, and I would end up with a deep fryer .
