So you got the same box and the same model number and it's a NTSC-J japanese one? Because the original japanese Mega Drive has the same model number as mine but mine isn't the original japanese one. Apparently it's the "all-asia" version, which was sold after the original japanese Mega Drive in Japan but ALSO in others asian countries. I really don't care about this, but I just want to make sure that my Mega Drive is NTSC-J.
I don't know how many times I have to tell people this. The original Mega Drive, the very first one was Japanese ONLY because it was only released and sold in Japan. There was no Asian, US, EU or any other model at that time. Later, the Mega Drive was released in Asia as well as other parts of the world. From that point on the NTSC Asian Mega Drive was also sold in Japan. Basically making no more Japanese exclusive model since all Mega Drives sold in Japan from that point in time were the same as the ones sold in Asia. Same box, same console. There are a few odd exceptions where there has been an Asian box but with first gen controllers and so on. I put this down to left over Japanese stock being used up. Yakumo
That's what I thought at first! I got confused because of what I read on some forums. Thanks a lot for your answer.
I always loved the english text sega would write on it's japanese boxes. Dreamcast probably had some of the best on it's controller packaging.
