It shouldn't be impossible. Forget projection, my idea is better, making a jacket out of optical fibers. With millions of fibers flush together with each tip facing a different side (of the jacket, like back/chest), 180 degress from the end. All that is entirely dependant though on whether or not those fiber are bidirectional. If not, you could do a checkered pattern where every other fiber faces forwards/backwards, but that would lower the person's optical "resolution" hehe. The only problem with my method is that if someone were to wrinkle it up, you'd see lots of freaking distortions plus you'd need lots of ambiant light for it to work. Still fucking beats a projector.
