Assembler Dreamcast community -- where to go from here

Holy shit! I see you are using your month off for the greater good of the community! Damn dude, much respect! I don't know that I would have that kind of patience and dedication.

I only hope, when you come across the Half-Life threads made here where Dan documented so much info about the online and other code of the game you might be able to try and save that info. Not any other place on the net with that information at all especially after DCFan.ru went offline which used to be our main hub for talking about modding that version of the game. Moi tried his damnedest to get the SDK to compile .dll's for the DC version of the game, but it was just super difficult what he tried to achieve.

I tip my hat to you dude, you are going after the DC info head on. I don't know how I can help you. My knowledge is pretty much only in PC building, moderating sites, and modding games. I can only read and understand and tweak some code, can't write anything myself from scratch to crawl this subforum or I seriously would. But you have my moral support brother. Keep it up.

XenForo doesn't seem to support exporting your PMs to XML or anything, so it would appear your only option is to copy and paste each one into a text file, one at a time. Either that, or use your browser's "save page" option and hope the formatting kinda sorta works afterwards. That doesn't always work, though, and some elements of the page may still be loaded over HTTP, instead of being stored in a folder on your PC, so when the site actually dies, the archives would be partially or totally broken.

 

I had something automated in mind, like wget but with credentials so that it can reach PMs. I might have to spend an afternoon copy pasting my 64 pages of PMs soon...

 

I know, but considering the limited time you have left, I'd start working on the method that is guaranteed to succeed now, rather than trying to come up with a less tedious method and potentially wasting valuable copy-paste time if it doesn't work out.

 

Those of us on the Reicast emulator Discord have expanded out. My GDROM EMU community has partnered with them moving from being an emulator only place to being a full dev community. We have plans and such. Might be a decent place to come to if you want a DC only community with some good info and such.
