Atari 2600 clone with famicom-like shell Hello assemblers! One of my friends who lives in Cali Colombia, found this very particular Atari 2600 clone shaped after the Japanese Famicom. In the middle of two famiclones, note the cartridge slot He said the controllers have excellent feeling Rear view. Hard wired controllers input, RF input and two Atari 2600 switches. I don't know what is the function of "A B C" labeled switch. The cartridge slot, note the absence of the common red dust cover. I'm looking for info about it, or if somebody here has seen before. Thanks
Cool find. I've never seen anything like that before. I take tat you friend bought the unit since I has been taken a par.
Yeah, he thought he acquired another common and ordinary famiclone. He brought it to his house and surprised when discover the cartridge slot. Another collector from Mexico have this console, that's all the info we got from Google.
The characters on the unit are 強棒 Reading: Qiang Bang Meaning: "strong excellence" I don't think that helps though. If you search for those characters, you just find a ton of websites about baseball... and viagra, lol.
hahahaha, thanks for the info anyway. When I saw the console for the firs time it reminds me the Marlboro logo. So Marlboro + Viagra... no way!!! I need go to sleep right now.
Hold on!!! Stop the presses!!! I search "強棒 game" in google images and found this thread from a Taiwanese forum. I don't know what they saying (chinese is a very tough language), but contains very interesting images. There's more Atari 2600 clones in many shapes, even resembling SEGA consoles (WTF?). http://www.gamebase.com.tw/forum/30032/topic/83925143/1 Thank you so much ave, you enlightened me! I'll share this information to my friend. Greetings
no problem! And thanks for sharing the link, those clones are very interesting. This Sega MarkIII clone even seems to come with a clone-version of the Sega Telecon, an antenna accessory for the Mark III which is actually quite rare: The Telecon:
Wow, I did not knew about this particular accessory, I'll search about it too. Unfortunately, the original source of those pictures (Flickr link in that forum) is no longer available . No chances to contact with the owner of this remarkable collection.
Found him in Youtube using his username wenli1979 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sifP29cp448 We still chances to contact him!
That blog post basically reads: "Back in the days there are many Taiwanese made knock-off consoles. Aaronix and Funvision to name a few. Because they are knock-offs, they do not garner much attention. These systems were meant for domestic market therefore they are typically hard to come by internationally. In fact, they might be more rare than the genuine versions. I've gather some information (pictures) below. In the future I will post some reviews for each. If I have time, I may record some hands-on videos." The caption for the Famicom-Atari reads: "Back in the days, because of its likeness who know how many young Famicom fans were screwed over. It came with 16 built-in Atari 2600 games". Hope that helps.
I was going to post the same link. I've seen these machines before, but I've always shrugged them off with a 'meh' since 2600 never really did anything for me. I suppose after seeing so many Chinese consoles, you kind of get desensitized to it all.
