Too bad those things cost way to much.

Isn't this the one that has solder points for nice easy connection of a cart socket?

  4. The fact that they released another one of these just makes me even more upset that I sold off my entire Atari collection when I had bills to pay. I had about 140 games that I spent a couple years obtaining, but it came down to either being able to insure my car or keeping my Atari stuff. :crying:

I bought the Flashback 2, it was $39.95 cdn here and it's the biggest pile of poop.

They did a crappy job with it, and it's utterly horrible.

  6. What is so bad about it specifically? Poor quality machine? Problems with the games themselves?

It's the quality of the plastics in the controller, and the way the stick moves.

The plastic is very very cheap, it's very light, and with a stiff stick (sounds bad), while using it, you have to use your other hand to go in the opposite direction or the whole thing will flip.

On top of that, the menus are horrible, some games have retarded borders surrounding it, and the buttons on the deck itself are very cheap with the stickers looking like there are bubbles beneith them.

  8. That is really a shame, this thing could have had a lot of potential too. I actually was considering getting one to fill the void from when I sold off my Atari collection, but after hearing what you had to say about it, I think I will stay away and just stick with emulators for now until I can slowly buy back my Atari stuff.

Ah! Yet even more poorly made fun. But let's face it, these products are for those too ignorant to have heard of emulation. That is why they are sold at walmart.

  11. I have to agree with you on that one, especially with how bad this Atari one seems to be. Some of the Jakks plug in box thingies (can't think of a technical term beyond "thingies") aren't all that bad though. I got my little cousin the Namco one for his birthday last year, hes grown up with Playstation and newer, so I figured I'd have him learn his roots a little bit. I was pleasantly suprised with the unit though, felt pretty well made, and the games were reproduced pretty faithfully. I think I ended up playing it more than he did that day :icon_bigg

The Namco one is great. The stick works as a steering wheel/paddle thing for Pole Position. Too bad there aren't any other cars or anything in that game, as the control thing is great.

It would be great for a pong clone or something.

I guess around where I live is emulation ville, because there are TONS of those at our Wal-mart and Gamestop.

I've noticed people playing NES games on the computers during my Middle/ high school days. Dont know how many people actually know of emulation around here, though.

    BTW, technically....emulation is naughty! :fresh:

BTW, that's what Nintendo wants you to think. In real life it's not.

  16. Of course thats what Nintendo wants you to think, how else are they going to sell you the Revolution if you can go play their old games elsewhere?
