Complete waste of time. Atari was forced by the local municipality to return to the dump and pulverize all contents, to prevent looting. There's nothing to find there.
Actually why wait! There's E.T. on eBay right now and XBOX ONE is just around the corner. You'll need a building to drop it off for best effect of course.
Aren't these the same bozos that made that fake doc where they went through the desert and found some obviously-put-there-before ET carts around in some sand?
I hope they're not digging in the current dump, because it's nowhere near the Eighties dump!! In actual fact, the original dump is now under a major road - there won't be any digging there! I believe the road has collapsed and so the land isn't all that safe. On top of that, dumping in the Eighties wasn't carried out under today's strict guidelines, so there's likely to be hazardous material in there. I'm very surprised the town would allow this, particularly as they're so against Atari looters visiting or anyone digging. They even got the hump when a reporter looked back on the event and wrote an article! As mentioned, nothing useful will come up. Even at the time, although local kids allegedly got working games and systems out of the dump, scavenging wasn't permitted and they crushed and filled every night. And, of course, they poured concrete over the top. Plus there's the fact that it was a huge dump, it's no longer a dump so finding the trench would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
