Have you shorted the headphone ground to the negative battery terminal to check it is this component? If you're going to try to repair old electronics, you really need to start using data books or other references that give you equivalents. A lot of manufacturers will have MOSFET equivalents tables freely available. STD12N06 is the same, and both are marked as replaced by 2SK2231. As for sources, I've mentioned them so often I don't think I need to again. Any good electronics supplier... or eBay!
Thanks dude this helped alot just ordered the part and i will wait and will be cool to see this work again.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400183583690&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT but did not power on still i am useing duracell batterys and still no go its a atari lynx 2 the big one i replaced the part but still no go would some care to have a look at it for me thanks.
ok done that got a power light for 1 sec when pluged in mate. any ideas. i would be willing to post the system tou you.
If the power works but the battery doesn't, it could be the diode on the battery terminal. As the power went off, it could be a fuse or the transistor. Yeah, I could take a look.
Your lynx needs to be loaded with a game, it should be inserted with the label facing the front of the unit.If cartridge is swapped, not present, or contacts oxidized/corroded, the lyxn will seem to blink on for a second when pushing the on button and immediately shut itself down.
