I was watching episode 8 from series one of 90s console & computer TV show 'Bad Influence' and saw something interesting. For a review of Dracula for the Lynx the handheld had been fitted with a ribbon cable allowing the image from the screen to be displayed on a larger studio monitor for the purposes of filming. This was a pretty cool mod for 1993! I wonder what happened to that modified Lynx? I know such a mod has been done for the Game Gear but hadn't seen a Lynx to TV mod before I stumbled upon this. Here are a couple of pics from the episode:
Such a thing existed but was reportedly a Lynx tied to a huge box that would generate the TV signal itself. There's no simple mod you can do to the Lynx for TV output.
Atari made a scan converter. Curt found the documents and posted them online a few years ago: http://www.atarimuseum.com/whatsnew/2009-MAY-29.html
Yeah it exists. It's in collectors hands http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XsjHWGUVf4 Video of it in action.
That giant box was replaced close to the end of the Lynx's life with hacked up units. They didn't connect to a TV though, I think a VDU or it might have been a PC card. It was displayed on a computer monitor at least.
Thanks for the link. Interesting how on the youtube vid the ribbon connector plugs into the Lynx's cart slot and on the 'Bad Influence' footage it is plugged into the right hand side of the console.
On lynx model 1, I believe the cart slot is on the right side of the console. (It's on the side, I just don't remember which side.)
