I like how it looks, with a lower price this could replace my Nvidia Shield for casual use, such as playing roms and YouTube.
Well... it looks cool. Maybe it’s cuz I’m too young, but Atari games aren’t good enough for me to want a whole device dedicated to replaying them. I had an Atari Plug n Play when I was younger, but even the spongebob one was more fun..
Well...it's back from the dead. Now, the fact that it is not a cheap plug and play might make this interesting for modders. Kinda like how the Ouya could be turned into an emulation box
Yeah I guess modding it is really going to be the deciding factor on whether this is worth the buy or not. For me, I think I’ll pass.
BS, more articles popping up with no new solid info just more hype and promises. The guy behind it WILL NOT DELIVER and really even if something actually appears it will be little more than an over priced Ouya. Just more whoring the ATARI name on something nobody really wants besides the Atari fanatics that will pay good money with anything ATARI branded. I can only think the market are like those who bought the Atari Atgames handheld, that is a cheap piece of crap but so many defend it because IT PLAYS 2600 ROMS ON THE GO! IT IS ATARI BRANDED. Even though so many handheld and portable devices have been capable of emulating 2600 for years and on bigger brighter better quality screens it can be done either on devices people already own or far better on a hacked PSP etc. Seriously stick an Atari badge and some woodgrain stickers on ust about any handheld and you have a way better device to play portable 2600 games on. Lastly I have said elsewhere IF this thing actually makes an appearance at GDC or elsewhere anytime soon and is demonstrated doing anything better look behind the curtain or under the table to see what is really running the show because personally I suspect a shit show of Coleco Chameleon proportions!
No interest. The 2600 is one of my consoles that gets the least amount of use. Yar's Revenge is good as well as Pitfall and Keystone Kapers but most games are just too dated for me to enjoy. Also Atari wasn't the most professional of companies so I don't know that I would want to support them in the first place. FTR I purchased all my 2600 stuff second-hand.
That's the funny thing about this. As far as I can tell (mostly from lurking in the AtariAge group), the fanboys hate this thing with a passion. Seems to be evenly split between those who are disappointed that it won't be a cartridge system for playing 2600/5200/7800 games, and the rest who are disappointed that it's not going to be a AAA powerhouse fit for deposing Sony and Microsoft. Odd crowd with bizarre expectations, really.
