Attempt to make Gameboy Color backlight

Hi its my attempts to make backlight.
And it works someway. The main problem is reflective layer.

 

This is very impressive, how did you manage to pull it of?

 

Is this a front light from kit or GBA SP 001?

Fluorescent lamp.
I have supply problems. Couldn't find locally 5v white LED strip. Only usb rgb strips

These would use Up the battery's quite fast, I would Imagine.

 

Now I want to de-solder LCD connector and make extension cord.
I search scheme CPU to LCD connection. I found one for DMG but none for GBC.
I want to know what is on output and input.

Block schematic like that for ATmega8(?)

I don't know what's going on with it, as it's not on Taobao anymore and those who have supposedly ordered haven't received anything yet.

 

For the B/W games are you using the inverted color option to make it display properly? Everything looks inverted when you first turn it on then you change the color scheme to what is I'm assuming the actual inverted scheme then it looks more normal. Is that how you got the B/W games looking fairly ok with the backlight?

 

Yes colors ale inverted.

So I made better backlight source.

And it not work good

 

I need better solution for backlight source.
Something big, thin, on 5v and low power.

 

Why not just use a DMG backlight?

 

That don't force reflective layer.
Led's must be directly behind the screen.

 

I did a dense matrix LED... And use Brightness Enhancement from LCD.
This module double light points. I use one horizontal and one vertical. So I received 4x more light points. But its still not enough.

Now I work on device to testing LCD pin-outs.
