I was finally able to win an auction for a famicom copy of Akumajo Densetsu for a reasonable price. However I know you do have to modify your nes plus your cartridge pin converter. Now mind you I don't have a 60-72 pin converter. Based on the mod it would require me to also modify the pin connector, but also I read you gotta build a switch cause some nes games won't output sound right unless you install a switch to go back to the normal pin mode.

Based on this kind of hassle is it worth getting a cartridge converter and doing the mod or just investing in an av famicom? Cause honestly I already have a super famicom ac adapter and I already have all the necessary hook ups to get an av famicom up and running. At the same time I have a U.S. top loader without an av mod done to it.

I'm not too fond of av famicom. The cartridge slot gripped strongly enough, that combined with its wide opening (making games wobble) and no eject button it was a deal breaker for me.

I'll have it modded if I get another.

Again, I don't have that problem with mine, yours probably needed to be broken in. Anyway, I'd just go for the AV Fami since you would have to AV mod the top loader to get it to the same level as the AV Fami. Since you already have all the necessary hookups, why not grab one?

Well if you can figure out a satisfactory looking and performing eject button mod, maybe I'll consider your offer. Both the original *and* Twin Fami offer that.

Don't want to steal the topic, but what is a decent price for a boxed Famicom AV + AV cables and AC adaptor?

I'd say get a famicom twin and a converter.

I ended up getting a boxed av famicom with power brick and av cord and both controllers. I was actually looking into a twin famicom but problem was that every seller was selling it with no power cord and listing them as junk cause the disk system side didn't work (but I am guessing just a belt replacement). Also I think twin famicoms use a different power connector. Plus shipping would of been a bit higher cause of weight. Can't wait till my madara cart comes in the mail, going to send that one off to nes reproduction to apply the patched rom to it, after I get the cart in the mail and find out how much he will charge of course.
