Looks like they outsourced the character designs to the studio that made Jem.

Wow, that was better animated than the real thing :) Well, maybe that's because he's dead.

Not yet. He's still on death row. Of course, nobody (including him) knows when the sentence will be carried out until the day before.

So what exactly is the cult of Aum? I assume he's supposed to be the guy in the purple robe?

I bet they won't kill him. Or that they'll take that bloody long that he'll die or natural causes.

Remember the Tokyo subway gassing in the mid 90's that killed 100's ? That was Aum. His name is "I'm fucked in the head" Yasahara. He believes that he is the new God and invites people to "cleanse" themselves within his new "better" way of life. In fact starting up such a religion in Japan may not be as hard as it sounds due to the gullibility and lemming like qualities of many people living here. Of course there's a lot more to it that just a better way of life. A quick Wiki search should give you the lowdown.

Actually it's at least a day before (not that it's any better). I can recommend a (Japanese) book that talks about every aspect of incarceration/prison in Japan. I'm sure googling it will tell otherwise, but I'll stick w/ my source. It shouldn't really be that surprising. You basically get no time for anything. Even when you're transferred from jail to prison, you can't call your family. They are notified by letter.

It's quite easy to paint the entire organization w/ a brush, but believe it or not, not everyone condoned the attacks (or any of the attacks they did). For a more subjective look (as subjective as it gets in Japan) read the book "Underground" by Haruki Murkami.

Seems like a good show. A little bit of super powers, a catchy song, a bearded man and mass murder . I would watch it.
No seriously, this is F#%&#$ up.

I've spent my whole evening yesterday researching about the group, and while I find their past 'deeds' abhorrent, I was really amazed (in a positive way) that the Public Security Examination Commission and the Diet refused to outlaw/ban the group. This is what true religious freedom should be about. In the Western world, it is declared a terrorist organization and its members are personae non gratae. I don't see Christianity or Islam outlawed though

I saw pics of this before. I thought it was some Anime about Jesus or something. I was wondering why he was on a telephone and then I thought "Japan lol".

I knew about the subway incident, but I didn't know it was a picture of that guy.

EDIT: Oh, and I knew it was that guy for a long time, I just found out about it elsewhere.
