    Hey guys,

This has been driving me crazy for a long time now.

I live near to a lot of trees which seem to generate an extra lot of dust in the summer. At least I have been noticing a massive increase of dust since a few weeks (or I'm just more paranoid about dust than I was in winter).

My new keyboard was already filled up with dust after just a week of using it on a daily base. Same goes for my screen and of course also my games. Storing games in cabinets helps, but dust still gets through. All my games are already in sealkings, which helps a lot.. but consoles and cart based stuff still ends up in dust hell.

    I hate it!

Anyway does anyone have any good tips on how to avoid dust besides using anti-static spray cleaners and such?

A friend of mine uses a very expensive ($800ish) air-cleaner from SHARP which he imported from Japan. He says it works great, however it is out of my budget for now.

Any of you use other electric air/dust cleaners and can recommend a good model?

Any other tips are also appreciated.

    Thanks!

I have a really nice holmes air purifier/filter that I dont use anymore. Its about 3 years old or so but it works great. Its a hepa type filter setup. I dont know how much it costs new as my dad got it for like 100$ when he worked at the filter factory that makes their filters.

I actually have nother that I use so if your interested I could part with mine cheap.

I sucked all the air out of my house and walk around in an astronaut suit. It works great, no dust!

Ok seriously you just have to filter your air like anti-static dust filtering for your center air is supposed to help zap the dust out of your air when you run your heating or air conditioning. But the best solution honestly is to cover things up with dust covers, or have them in a cabinet that you keep closed but shuts tightly to prevent dust moving into it.

And I heard that alot of dust in your home and stuff is dead cells from you too. I doubt it's 90% though.

    I guess it's more around 70 or 80%.

    But check this out:

"Some dust consists of human skin; it is estimated that the entire outer layer of skin is shed every day or two at a rate of 7 million skin flakes per minute, which corresponds to a mass emission rate of about 20 mg/minute.[4]"

    eeeeeewwwwww

I use one of those Sharp air filters in the house however it's in the baby's room not my game room. I find that the most dust is caused by having a whopping big TV in the room. My wife and I basically live in the room where my PC and gaming consoles are since that's where the TV is but we don't really have too much of a dust problem and it's a small room. If you vacuum every week you'll notice the dust levels decrease. Also vacuuming your PC Keyboard is a fantastic way to keep it clean. Of course use the brush attachment on the hose not the actual thing that is used to vacuum the floor. I vacuum all my electronics every week. Only takes a few minutes. then once a month they'll get a polish. Seems to keep the dust levels pretty low.

I'm having the same problem here. I live at a place where there is lots of construction going arround, mostly flats, so there is a lot of dust in the air and I clean my electronics once a day, and the next morning there is a thick layer of dust over them
I'll be moving soon, so I think I'll go ahead and buy one of those air filters/purifiers if I can get ahold of one. That seems to be the only solution to the problem.

I have that issues very much in my room(possibly cause it use to be a garage but was converted to a room). I must admit after using a air purifier I noticed a big difference.
