I am horribly bored, so I was diving thru my HDD and I found some old pics and well, there's a comparison between my city 20 years ago and nowdays. Seriously, it doesn't look any close but whatever. h: Back then: Now: Back then: Now: Back then: Now: Your city has changed that MUCH? Because seriously, I can't recoginse anything there and I walk on the first photo street everyday.
I found a couple of webpages that show similar pics of my area, but with a 30 year gap between the old pics and the new ones, and a lot of the areas are unreconizable.
well not to be "mean" or anything but Spain has come a long way since the old days, it used to be as bad a dump as Greece.
we have a "back then/now" series in our local newspaper, i'll scan the next ones, pretty damn interesting
No mean whatsover, you're completely right, but it's still a load of cack compared with some other european countries.
I find stuff like this very interesting. At least looking at the pictures it looks like things have changed for the better. You don't see graffiti in any of the pictures you've posted.
I am beginning to miss Copenhagen in the 80´s damn those were some cool times. But quite a lot has changed to the worse, in my childhood neighbourhood sadly. But some stuff has been unchanged through the last 20 years (God I feel old, I was 6 back then). My old school, is not a school anymore , and it ended its days as a ghetto school in a ghetto. Thank goodness, that my old street is filled with flats that you pay for, and you do not rent. But the next street is one big ghetto, which is scary.
You can usually find graffiti in schools, under construction buildings and walled empty building lots but you don't see graffiti often in many places. I guess chav's haven't got guts. EDIT: this one is fun too: Back then: Now:
Well at least the little house is still standing! Anyway, Spain really got the best of the last 20 years, and good for them considering all the shit spaniards had to go through in the 20th century. The UE helped a lot though, and I dont mean the spaniards are lazy or dependant, but hey, take a look at other spanish countries like Mexico or Argentina, they arent even halfway there. Hell, in fact I think they're having a worse time now than 20 years ago...
