Hello,i hope i'm in the right section, if not feel free to move this thread and i apologize in advance. Basically i have managed to rip my GTA III disc to PC using "DVD Decrypter" and select "read iso" which gives me an ISO. I then use "Iso Buster" and open the ISO which presents me with 1Track containing UDF and ISO. I use "ISO Buster" to drag all the contents of GTA III (ISO not UDF) to a folder.I now open "Nero Burning ROM" and select (DVD-ROM UDF/ISO) drag all the contents in order into Nero and put my 6 modified files, the files are 4 .DAT files from the GTA III Beta (and 2 sfx files) i then "burn" which actually writes a ISO to my given destination.

But PCSX2 gives me a "ISO Path Error" and won't work.

I did have a tutorial somewhere in which i done this method and it works.

My main question is, what is the most efficient way of modifying PS2 games and packing them back perfectly?

GTA III also has a DUMMY. File which i can't replace with a .TXT like most guides say (won't overwrite despite having same name)

My ultimate goal here is to restore the 6 files from the Beta to the retail disc and play on PCSX2 (and a PS2 debug when i get one which i know involves using a masterdvd patch)

Have you tried saving your disc image with Nero, in the ISO9660 format? I mean, only ISO9660 and nothing else (No UDF, Joilet or anything extra).

I looked original iso in imgburn and replicated settings in custom iso.

If I recall I have used ImgBurn and MagicISO to backup PS2 games to use for PCSX2. Have not done that in awhile though.

The most efficient way of modding a PS2 game is hex edit the image without dismantle it. Make sure the modified data fits on the same space the original did.

A LOT of PS2 games use absolute sector numbers as reference for locating their files on the disc instead of relying on the filesystem on the disc. On that cases you're most likely to break the games you're trying to mod.

Well what I do is grab all the files from the ROM I want to back up, and put em all in an ISO and it usually works.

Hello @onza120 , are you still interested in this? Sorry to bump such an old thread but maybe you still want to do this. Are you dumping the UK version? Becuase I have an UK version around and can assist you in a moment. Let me write a guide on how to replace the files so that it works , brb. Btw there is dummy in GTA III but a false TOC. The key to this game is the the files have to be in a particular order. Will post a guide in a few moments. Also , it would be great if you talked a bit more about the beta.
    Cheers.
