This is very cool... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Backlit-Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-NES-TMNT-Nintendo-/151194914140?
The NES is freaking awesome, but the price... Oh god... $1,275.00? "This Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles system is the newest and most advanced one yet!" This phrase makes look like the system a Famiclone... Oh well...
No idea why anyone would pay that much, and it's kind of disingenuous to say it's the only one in the world. No shit, since he made it himself: if I wrote "poopy carrots" on an NES, I'd have the only NES in the world with "poopy carrots" written on it.
I'd had to imagine the people bidding on this are hardcore turtle fans... different strokes for different folks
Only in America is this thing passable. Too much disposable income - bet someone in Portland bought it.
Still a couple of days to go, wonder if it'll shoot up much more. Although looking at the bidding history the current high bidder has been outbid several times, so I hope he's not just shill bidding to push the price up. Oh have just noticed the seller had a similar Megaman NES for sale previously that went for $1050 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Backlit-Meg...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
He does make some cool mods but not for that much. Here is his Youtube channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/jayrod2/videos Here is another page I found but I think it is outdated. Those prices I think are I are fair but as usual it looks like the Ebay crowd screwed things up again. http://www.custommade.com/by/customnesguy/
Hopefully one day have enough time and spare consoles to try something like this myself! They look incredible!
What's happened... the current bid is only $305??!! It was over $1k when I posted. Looks like eBay has removed a bunch of bids or something?
Could there be a shitload of shill bidding? Some muppetry I saw once. A guy bought a customised yellow N64 (basically just a repainted standard one) and tried to flog it off for double as a "limited edition".
That's pretty cool, though I think I'm unduly influenced by my soft spot for the original NES TMNT. It's kind of awesome in its own unbalanced, frustrating way.
