Do we have a current backup of Assemblergames?

Seeing Dreamcasthistory down and thinking back to when we lost this forum, made me think of backups.....

Usually, what happens is 'someone mentions backups', and then a backup is suddenly required.

The best time was a year ago, when the HTO noticed that the backup system was merely backing up daily to the same file over and over again on the same system rather than seperating itself to our backup server. We decided that the next day, we'd fix it.

The next day (Saturday) we couldn't remotely log in to the server, and a bank holiday weekend meant we could not get into the server room until Tuesday. When we get in there, we find the server spewing out HD read errors onto the command line. Turns out, the 6-month old hard drive had destroyed itself, but the backup was still fine... except of course that for the last 3 days it had been making a complete backup of corrupted files. Thus, we lost huge amounts of data.

I want to say this is the only time this has happened to us - but it hasn't :(

IF I'm not mistaken, this site is on a dedicated server, which would allude to shell access being available. If so, there's a free (and amazingly easy) MySQL backup dump script out there. A million times better than phpMyAdmin's crappy backup feature. Just cron it, make sure it stores stuff remotely.
