To be honest, I have lived mostly ignorant of all the issues regarding violence and drug cartels until recently. What has happened is that recently the goverment decided to eliminate all cartels instead of letting or helping some of them work. That's one part of the problem. Taking drugs to the USA is a huge business, and demand is increasing every year. If you knock one cartel, antother will pop up and take it's place and there are many to choose from. The other part is, at least in my state, the Zeta Cartel. Most people call them a cartel, but they are not really one. They are just the most violent crime organization, trying to claim territories for their operations of theft, kidnapping, extortion and worse. They are so bad that some time ago two drug cartels joined forces to eliminate them. You can find online some videos of Zeta members being beheaded as a warning. I know they exist, have seen a screen shot or two, but never had the stomach to see the videos. Zeta recruits mostly young gang mebers, and when they find illegal inmigrants (mostly on their way from South America to the US), they offer them to join them or die. Drug cartels rarely mess with civilians, since their fortune comes from taking their drugs to the USA, anything else is not good business for them and can be an unecesary risk. Zeta's primary target are civilians AND drug cartels. They want cartels to pay them for the privilage of using their roads to smuggle the drugs. They want to be seen as powerful as the cartels (hence blockades, use of grenades, regular shootings, show-off stuff), but they do bad business and are just ultra violent armed kids. Things could get better, I am convinced of it, but it may take years..negotiating some form of truce with the cartels, eliminating or greatly reducing the Zetas, and improving quality of life and education in the country could help, but the last option will never happen. The others are more likely. In Ciudad Juarez, the worst place in Mexico regarding this current war, journalists have managed to get refugee status in the USA, since they have sucesfully managed to show that the cartels have supplanted by force the local goverment, therefore the ruling power wants them dead. It is my understanding that my life or my familiys life has to be directly threatened by the ruling force to get refugee status in the US. While things are bad in my state, they are nowhere as bad as Juarez yet. The possibilty of Europe sounds good!
Garlo: if you or XerdoPwerko , or any of you good mannered Mexicans, feels the need to move to Denmark. I welcome you with open arms, but I must add, the racist right winged party(DPP/Danish Peoples Party), wants you to learn Danish, and "gather points" too in some ways to "show" you are not a "social parasite" or some shit.
A friend and his wife live in Denmark. He has been working at a University in Aarhus, doing research for the last 3 years, and his wife has been taking Danish clases so she can get a job. From what he has told us, sounds like a great place to be. Would not surprise me if at the end of his research they decided to stay.
Garlo: I think it would be great , if they decided to stay. Since they sound like cool people. Even though Aarhus and me are not the best of friends, so to speak. Let us just say this, to me I have had a few bad experiences in Aarhus over the years. One of them being my own fault, the other was the State Owned train service we have named DSB.
I live in the "Safe" part of Mexico, the shithole in the middle of fucking nowhere called Guadalajara. Still, thanks to our awesome government, we're starting to get narco violence here every day, for the last two or three years. Nowhere near Juárez level, that's for sure. My friends from Monterrey have all told me it's really dangerous up there lately. I went like two years ago and it seemed far more civilised and peaceful than Guadalajara, and definitely less fucked up. What the fuck happened? Also, Eva01, you live in the states. How long has it been since last you came back to the motherland?
Dont bother knocking doors in the usa, specially now that the rednecks won the election. Besides you would still be too close to mexican mafias, and the economy is shit right now so you wont find a job. Try to get to europe, spain alone gave 50 cubans and their families citizenship even while they weren't exactly going to be executed.
